[WTB] good aircooling heatsink

ok so I want to buy a nice decent air cooler, like a tuniq tower of thermalright 120 or sunbeam core contact, something along those lines I'm up for suggestions. also I want to trade my E8500 for a quad Q6700 or Q9300 pm me if your interested please!!!

you may also want to consider a Xigmatek HDT 1283 or 1284 both are great

i have a q6600 vid of 1.275 ran it at 3.6-3.7 on air under a tuniq and under water it would run 3.8
that was in my maximus formula. now that its in a p5n-e sli i cant get it above 2.6 lol.

i've had it about a year, so its not one of the newer quads that dont clock well.

Unlike many people, I was not impressed with the xig, even with the bolt through. I'd take the Thermalright. If someone has a Zerotherm NV120, I'd get that. It's my favorite air cooler ever.

+1. I have that on my backup SLI rig and a Tuniq Tower 120 for my main one (See system specs and sig).

That Zalman 9700 though should be enough to meet your needs, my $.02

did you get the 1284? i've heard the early versions had some problems, which were corrected in later batches, while the 1283 has been solid since the start.

It was the 1283. Honestly it really wasn't much about performance. The temps were good, but only about 2c better than my Zerotherm on load. I just didn't care for the design, and I hate having to install a fan after I install the heatsink on the motherboard. I like the one piece design with the fan intergrated (Zerotherm NV1210).
