Looks like you're CPU limited, surprisingly. Check the GPU clocks, but don't worry about them unduly.

100 fps more is not slight, I was legit getting 90 fps earlier when I tried streaming. I don't understand
Problem solved, grab a "Z170/270" motherboard and look up an overclocking guide - make sure you aren't using a intel stock cooler.

Storage is the least important thing , you will run into CPU/GPU/memory bottlenecks long before storage becomes a limiting factor. Especially in relatively simplistic games like Fortnite and Overwatch.

Well can you explain to me how my fps is so much lower than someone with similar specs.

I am somehow doubtful of that because of several reasons , for one frame rate in Fortnite is very erratic and in addition to that he may be using the GPU for encoding which would drastically reduce CPU load hence grant him higher frames.

So lets review
-New MB
-Consider ssd

You would be mostly wasting your money but hey , it's your choice.

Before you spend extra dough, what is your frame rate without streaming active, there are many other possible bottlenecks, without knowing the whole picture you might end up upgrading your entire machine to match the GTX 1080's power.

Nvidia shadow play please, virtually no performance loss or minimal - It's not wasting money to upgrade the motherboard i'd get one to improve performance

My the highest fps I can get after testing all settings is 200 yet is mostly stays around 160 without streaming. Then when I start streaming, my fps dies

Use nvidia shadowplay - It will not reduce the fps that much.

Out of curiosity , how much more performance do you people rekon he'll get from a CPU overclock ? Will it make up the gap from 100 to 200fps that he claims ? :banghead:

I was taking it as if he was getting below 100, it's clearly cpu bound and would at least get 10-15 more on average.

You can check his fps in is twitch vods or youtube videos @kayuun. Also what do you mean by he uses it for encoding

What streaming software do you use? Use nvidia shadowplay since obs is trash.

Streaming requires video encoding , which can be either done on CPU or on GPU. What do you use to stream the game ?

Are you going to keep repeating my questions? Lol.

It's a lively thread so he might not have seen the reply.

Also, does SSD's really improve FPS? I wouldn't have thought so, at least not to any kind of noticeble degree.

It doesn't , a lot of money wasting inducing advice on here.

I use OBS and so does the streamer .

That eats up CPU , hence you get lower frame rates. If you don't value quality too much switch to Shadowplay.

Ok so
My specs Gtx 1080
I7 6700k
B250m bazooka MB
8g single ram 1600

His specs
Gtx 1080
Z170 MB
I7 6700k
16gb ram
Some type of ssd

Now my build gets 100 FPS less then there while streaming with the same settings and optimized.
Answers have been back and forth so is there a specific answer to this?

What's certain is that a CPU overclock and an SSD wont double your framerate. You still haven't told us how much fps you are getting while you are not streaming.

Yes I do value quality. Plus most people use OBS and performance is not a big problem. Yet for me it is

Who knows what settings they use ? OBS can totally wreck performance.

Ok I can get 200 FPS max and 160 average without streaming. And when I start streaming I get s$$$ FPS what is the reason. Do I just get the one gtx 1080 that dosent work?

ShadowPlay nerfs performance badly as well. Done some recording on Killing Floor 2 and what used to be silky smooth without recorder was horribly floaty with it. So, it's clearly putting load that affects gameplay in the end. Video quality may affect the difference, but I doubt it would make a huge difference.
