i'm pretty sure this card has more than enough grunt for three windows desktops.

Grunt isn't the issue, it's the bottleneck to the card as, 133 Mb/s is the max of PCI.

Onboard being part of chipset and the memory coming from the ram, the bandwidth is far higher than that, of a PCI bus.

considering youtube (flash, really) defaults to software mode, a wet fart could run it on the video card side of things.

well if bluray runs at about 25Mb for video on average, thats a shitton less than 133MB/s

The money people spend on this PCI card could go towards a cheap entry level modern PC that will blow away whatever you can do with that PCI card. PCI is still viable for sound cards, wireless internet cards, etc, but video cards I wouldn't touch. Games like BFBC2 are monsters, so I NEED my sound card running in my PCI lane working to offload CPU cycles. I still have my FX 5500 PCI for an emergency, it added some kick to my old P4 PCI only rig. Had an 8500GT too for a while and that was nice at the time. Thank god for my current PC.

this gives a ton of old systems the ability to run more monitors, hardware accelerated flash, HDMI for audio and video, and for a lot less than a new system would cost.

Yeah....but that's not the market for this card. I run a 8400GS PCI card for extra monitor outputs while preserving my PCIe slots for the more important things. This is the market for this card - Creating extra monitor outputs.

Anyone trying to game on this thing is insane.

2D gaming acceleration is all you can literally do with a PCI card, so facebook apps is close with Sims and Diablo II thrown in there.

If you read the Techspot PCI gaming thread, which we both contributed to Yukikaze, there are STILL people wanting to take the easy road and use a PCI card like this one for graphics. The posts I'm reading, they have no tech understanding at all, and the plug and play nature of PC building completely eludes them. That is the point of my post here, there are people seeking to use this other than extra monitor support and they need serious enlightenment.

I was broke as a joke when I was using PCI cards and couldn't afford a modern PC, PCI was all I could do. Always wanted a PC like what I have now and when I got some money for it, that's what I did.

You know what else gives old systems the ability to run more monitors? More pci cards add another fx5200 into your dell if the computer is that old maybe they should skip the hdmi monitor and surround sound reciever and get one of them new fangled computers. I'm sure the wonderful people at bestbuy or dell.com could get them a great package deal with a monitor printer and new computer for around $500.

but it still cant even run the monitor right i have seen this several times people coming back to a store because they bought a 24" LCD and a 2ghz celeron video card didn't matter it would lag in word

Last PCI video card I had was a (WinFast) S3 V868.

Dell and HP were both making systems with no graphics card slots on the mobos up until a few years ago. My HP from 2003 didn't have one.

Enjoy your PCI video card but save for better technology if able, like me.
