How often do you change your graphic card?

Too many:

nVidia GTX260 x2
nVidia 8800GT x2
ATi HD 4870

nVidia 8800GTS 320MB
nVidia 8800GTS 640MB x2
ATi HD 4850
ATi HD 3850
nVidia 8400GS

Over the past couple of years had a 4850, dual 4850's a 4890. a 5770, dual 5770's back to a single 5770, and on a 470 now :) will maybe grab another in 6-9 months depending :toast:

ati rage -> geforce 2 -> geforce 4 mx -> geforce 6800 go -> Ati hd 4890 -> just got a second 4890 a couple months ago. When I actually got into building my own stuff I guess it was 3.5 years from my 6800 to 4890 and got my 2nd 4890 after having the first one for about a year and a half. Whatever is the best price for performance has my vote. Depending on the 69xx series and if it pushes 68xx series down I may go for to 6870s or one 6970. Maybe a 570 but I have a xfire mobo but I need something thatll work with my 750 watt.

nowadays at least a couple per generation (in the couple sometimes 3-6), the only one so far ive missed since geforce 4's is Fermi, and I'm getting a GTX460 real soon :)

When the card I'm buying is around $200 (I can't afford those bleeding edge $600 cards people seem to love) and is at least 1.5 times faster in terms of performance.

Or every 1-2 years.

once a year usually
radeon 3870X2
radeon 4870X2
radeon 5850+5850

I bought mine for 1150 after selling my 480 for 900, was worth it, i like the idle temps better, but you should have a great oportunity to sell the 480, otherwise, IMHO, i wouldt upgrade.
The card is great, performace in games is not really noticeable, but its there.

It's a better card all in all

Haha so was the fx5200 to 6600 a very quick swap outside of pong I cant think of anything running quickly on it.

around 2yrs (well... i think it'll be more like every 6mos if I had budget :D)...

7200gs -> 7600gt -> (long freakin wait) -> gtx260

Over the last 4 years, 7900 GS 256MB, 9600 GT 512MB, 4850 512MB, and currently 4870 1GB.
I've had the 4870 for the last 6 months and don't plan on upgrading it any time soon, unless BF3 or Mass Effect 3 don't run smoothly on high settings.
I'm glad I made the switch to ATI, overclocking seems to be easier with less drivers crashes.

I either change because A. My card died or B. Upgrade

seems about 2 years now, used to be every 6 months, but kids, car payments, house, etc have really drained the available blow money.

now it really comes down to the ability to play a game at a decent detail level and while my 9600gt wasn't too bad a performer in the games I had, an upgrade to a gtx470 still seemed necessary

as little as possible. fortunatly PC gaming graphics peaked in 2007 so no need to upgrade to the latest and greatest, probably not for quite a while iether

once in an eternity :D
or if one dies... :(
currently stuck at an ATI 4650
