How To: Enable SLI on pre-i7/i5 hardware

very interesting. i'll look into...
but i'm at work now

So a little more info,

This setup has been working fine for quite awhile using slipatch 1.0 and the old drivers. I installed the new drivers and the new sli-patch this am, and thats when this mess started. The really interesting thing is that now I am unable to use slipatch 1.0, even with rolling back to slipatch 1.0, and doing a clean install of nvidia drivers I am still getting crashing now. VERY frustrating.

So it's not because of 1.2+ versions i think. We can do some research. You have problems only with 3d surround? I have some suggestion.

Surround in general (dosn't have to be 3d). It seems that even things like Heaven etc will just crash the system out, but i never had these problems until today when I tried to install the new slipatch and new nvidia drivers. I am currently attempting to driver sweep them and do it all from scratch.

Is there anything special to doing a full clean install of slipatch other then removing it rebooting and reinstalling it?

For slipatch it's enough to push uninstall. About driver i know only about sweeper. I dont know are there means better for it.
What is surrond? three monitors?

1.42 solves the flickering with 270 drivers :) thnx! Only flickering that remains is in crysis2, but like mentioned earlier, it's up to crytek to fix that issue.

Well, I'm able to use 270.61 + slihack 1.42, but very strange graphics corruption in crysis2. The game is dark, until I move and it gets brighter, stop moving and it goes darker again. Strange black blob follows me around on screen too. So close......

Hi All,

I'm having the same issues as you were with the 270.61 drivers, ditto everthing you described. "very strange graphics corruption in crysis2. The game is dark, until I move and it gets brighter, stop moving and it goes darker again. Strange black blob follows me around on screen too. So close...... "

The problem only occurs with SLI enabled and Crysis 2 in Extreme mode, never happened prior with any driver set. Disabled SLI, removed OC, uninstalled eVGA Precision and EVGA SLI Enhancement Patch 38, cleaned with Driver Cleaner.NET. Re-installed nVIDIA drivers 270.61 to no avail, problem persist. Only thing I haven't tried yet is a clen install of the OS and another bridge. Went back to 267.24 beta, working without issue.

ASUS P6X58D Premium
Intel i7 930
6Gb Kingston HyperX 3x2
2x EVGA GTX260's in SLI
Antec TPQ 1000W
Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 x64

starams5, this issue was observed only with crysis2 patch 1.2 and the 270 driver. I had a backup install of it with patch 1.1, and the same issue is not there. I think crytek may have introduced the graphics problem with their own patch....

block sys_spec_postprocessing with ; in your autoexec.cfg,
like this f.ex. ";sys_spec_postprocessing = 2" (without the "").

Should solve the problem

This patch 1.42 beta works great,

System spec's

MSI 890fxa-gd70, 1100t phenom at 4ghz 2400ht and 2400nb, 1600mhz ram ocz reaper, custom water loop, two gtx 570 msi oc edition.

Works great for heaven 2.5, 3d mark 11 and 3d mark vantage with new 270.61 drivers, sli works great but can't get tri sli to work more than two seconds, tried multiply bridges and cards are all the same, rma'ed some back to newegg.com and from msi, but still the same problem, any word on if this will ever work? Mabey when the 990fx comes out it will be easier to fake ? Great work on the drivers, As of right now i use two cards in sli and one dedicated to phyx even though its over kill.

@johnspack

Ya, it's weird..... Couldn't have explained it any better then you did. At first I thought it was cool, the new shadows and everything. It took a minute to realize there was a problem (flickering). If I switch to Very High the problem is gone. I can switch back to Extreme and the problem is no longer there until the game is restarted, then it returns. As stated, I'll just stick with 267.24 beta, too much hassle switching back-and-forth.

@Kamikaz

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried both methods below (270.61) and although the black shadows were gone, the flickering increased and the game wasn't stable. No big deal I guess, it's not like the game won't work at all (267.24 beta) so things could definitely be worse. I'll just wait it out for Crytek or nVIDIA to sort it out.

;sys_spec_postprocessing = 2
sys_spec_postprocessing=2

Nice system kahboom. Yeah, seems a lot of people have issues with tri or above sli. Not sure why. I can only run 2 cards, so can't add anything....

Anatolymik for chipset P67 u make something? :D

I try to SLI my GTX 460 on my sistem and dont work
I have i5 2400 with Asus P8P67 LE on windows 7 X64 with 266.58 driver (i have SLI bridge)
I try simple way with patch 1.0 and no SLI option. I do nothing on BIOS. (on site i see this "Intel P67 (with BIOS key)" ??? what is BIOS key?? )

Try adding r_PostMSAA = 0 (or if it's already in it, just change to 0) in combo with the postprocessing.
Should solve the flickering too, but AA will be messed up. Through nvidia inspector you'll need to manually configure AA, should look better than crytek's AA.

I had no choice but to try out the new 1.42 patch.. it turns out after going back to 1.0 patch and my earlier 260 drivers I still got flicker. It seems Nivida added something on these new 270s drivers that even after countless driver sweeps I couldn't get off.

I still get massive flicker in BFBC2 with 1.42 patch. :(

uninstall the patch completely ans install it again. what your windows version?

I found out what's wrong. One of my SLI cards became unstable with these new drivers and was causing this flicker. I advise if you are getting flickering in your games and have your cards overclock lower the values a little and re-check. I had my cards at 900mhz and had to go to 850 to remove this flicker.

what your windows version?
