I'd play more games before saying that. 1.42 did not fix flickering in all games for me. It actually caused it. But I think the SLI patch got corrupted. I and another person here learn that it leaves some routines behind after uninstalling which causes massive flicker when trying to add another SLI patch on top.. only way to remove it we found is to swap or remove a card and reboot, making the computer do a new hardware install. This seems to delete the SLI patches completely off the system. You can now install your cards back and do a fresh SLI patch with no problems.

Many have a vested interest in the successful SLI Patching of these magnitudes faster and expensive, multi-socket server motherboards. Hopefully members who've enabled server Sli and this forums' talented Patch writers could please help resolve this for benefit of all members with sofar unpatched servers.

Also our loss that Coolmiester and handfull of members who reported successfully enabled server SLI don't or can't reply to help requests for their patching procedures.
Thanks for any help,
Jeff

Tyan S7025 Serverboard with 4x PCI-E 2.0 x16 slots,
2x 5520 Quad-core Xeon CPU's,
2x NVidia 9800 GX2 GPU's

I have the same Tyan board as you. I can happily report that after my initial problems with enabling SLI, everything is working perfectly now.

For my dual GTX 590 setup, I first had to get the latest Tyan BIOS to even be able to boot into Windows properly. After flashing BIOS, I installed driver 267.91, SLI patch version 1.2 beta and rebooted PC. Quad SLI was now selectable from the Nvidia Control Panel. I also installed EVGA SLI patch version 38, but I have no idea what it actually does.

I have to say Metro 2033 looks stunning on my system with highest settings and PhysX enabled. So thanks to anatolymik & co. for the ongoing support :respect:

BTW, it seems that a lot of the problems (most?) reported here are not directly related to SLI patch itself, but driver or system problems.

That's true.

These drivers for the most part are a disaster.

Terrible flickering here too
BFBC2 -> flickering
BF2 -> no flickering, So is that an issue between drivers 270.61 and DX10/11 games only?

I don't know if this the same issue you have but Nvidia acknowledge there's a problem with this driver but blame Dice..

That issue with BFBC2 that you are poiting out is with Nvidia Surround resolution only.

The flickering issue should be adress(if we are lucky:)) in the next driver:

The BF:BC2 flickering issue is scheduled to be addressed in the next driver release next month (R275).

How to SLI Patch 4x PCI-E X16 Dual\Quad CPU mobo's

Thanks so much Ahu for your usual fully informative answer just seen, sorry for delayed reply. And Congrat's, That is Great! news which i'll utilize on my S7025 rig almost identical to the X8DTG-QF.
I'll also soon complete a final TYAN S4985G3NR Thunder n4250QE Quad 1207(F) NVIDIA nForce4 workstation using 8435 6-core Opteron CPU's. It's an NVIDIA nForce4 board and compatible with the SLI Patch but its an AMD Opteron mobo which i hoped you and any interested could tell me is also compatible with SLI Patching? (or Crossfire patch?)
Hopefully its possible to please let me know before Thursday Apr.28/11 since the S4985 mobo is held for me till then.
I owe you, thanks again for any help,
Jeff

So I may have found my problem but I don't understand the issue :D. Is it possible that something in the 1.42 sli patch or in the new drivers allows my cards to run hotter then before? I believe the issue here for me at least is overheating, and that somehow the performance is lowered in the old sli patch to the point that I don't overheat. I have been monitoring vid card temps after using the new nvidia drivers/sli patch and they go way way higher (10-20 degrees minimum) in the new patch/drivers. I am wondering if the only reason this setup has worked with 1.0 in my case is due to the fact that its not running at max or something. what do you think?

you MUST uninstall the HYDRA software/driver Before installing the Sli patch otherwise you will get the BSOD you are speaking off.

And you are right...HYDRA is a fail! I also have the CHIV extreme and I use the sli hack for my 570's.

hello what is the correct procedure to run my 2 x gtx 460 and my motherboard asus ma89gtd pro, I install the 270.xx drivers and then after I plug my 2nd GTX 460 with the sli bridge? then after the patch 1.42 and I reboot? I have a antec 650 watt power its 80 + enough? thank you in advance for your answers.

Win7 64 bit, Q6600, X38a chipset, 2x Palit GTX460 2GB cards.

Been trying various drivers and patch versions over recent days but now finally the latest driver 270...something and sli beta patch 1.4

With every combination I was finding an imbalance in the gpu temperatures as displayed in msi afterburrner.

This was cured by swapping the cards around after sli patch instal as another contributor suggested.

So do a clean driver instal with cards in sli and restart.

Install and update sli patch, turn off computer and swap around graphics cards.

restart.

This has given me balanced temperature ....only about 2 to 3 degrees difference rather than about 10 degrees difference as I was getting before.

Disable UAC if on Vista/7
Reboot
Download SLiPatch
Install SLiPatch
power down system
install second card
turn on system
let it install second card
power down
install SLi bridge
Power up system
Set SLi in nvidia control panel.

What is the purpose of the "update" in the sli patch and at which point in the installation should that be done?

I've always just installed over previous versions of the SLiPatch.

or are you talking about the new auto patcher for the nvidia drivers?

I mean the "update" button that appears in the sli patch after you have installed it.
I've always just clicked it once I've installed the patch.

I'm not sure what it does or if that is the correct point in the procedure to do it......does it update the patch software, update the master boot record with the new sli option? just don't know.

The update button appears because Sli Patch detects that is already a version installed, nothing more.

You don't need to click update after you install the first time.

I followed this procedure 2 times and my Nvidia Controlpanel is still telling me to install my SLI-bridge, cant enable SLI at all but can use both cards for PhysX and view both in GPU-Z and MSI Afterburner.
I have a Asus P5Q-Pro and two GTX460.
It was a while since I used my SLI bridge but it has been safe in a box since last time and i cant find any damage on it.
Does anyone know a solution or maybe been trough the same problem?

Ah good to know. I got time to install 1.42 with drivers 270.61 on my Supermicro X8DTG-QF and dual 480 but getting a BSOD at windows start currently.

Without patch both cards are seen and working ok (using one for each display until I can get SLI working).

I'm wondering if any of you guys that are getting problems have your OS installed on a raid config.

I have my OS on a raid0 of 2x ssds

I had to do a OS reinstall with both cards and sli bridge in place to get this to work.

Sounds like your SLi bridge is bad, or possibly the SLi "fingers" on the cards.
