How To: Enable SLI on pre-i7/i5 hardware

Hi

I'm updating my self, lol, yesterday didn't had time to fool around with SLI testing. I will test, sure.

Now: I was reading the latest post and I don't know if it help:

I tried that. Twice! The first try was done using both 16x PCIe Ports on my mainboard. Then I did a clean reinstall of Windows XP32bit with both graphic cards in PCIe-Slots that are connected to the same IOH-36D. Still no SLI available.

GPU-Z and nHancer recognize the system as "SLI availbable" but also say: "Disabled".
(See attached screenshot).

Seems to be the only solution.

As suggested I tried to use the modified drivers without HAL-Mod: No SLI.
Then I installed the HAL-Mod for XP 32bit: No change, except that the Chipset has been recognized as X58.

Now I have to find someone with the Supermicro C7X58. No SLI for me. :-(

:cry:

Supermicro C7X58 SLI Certificate:

Code:
    Scope (_SB.PCI0)
    {
        Name (SLIC, Buffer (0x9E)
        {

        })
    }

    Device (_SB.PCI0.WMI1)
    {
        Name (_HID, "pnp0c14")
        Name (_UID, "MXM2")
        Name (_WDG, Buffer (0x14)

            /* 0010 */    0x4D, 0x58, 0x01, 0x02
        })
        Method (WMMX, 3, NotSerialized)
        {
            CreateDWordField (Arg2, Zero, FUNC)
            If (LEqual (FUNC, 0x41494C53))
            {
                If (IFSL ())
                {
                    Return (SLIC)
                }
            }

            Return (Zero)
        }
    }

9800GTX SLI on a Rampage Formula

Hi guys

I gave the guide lines that aGeoM gave in post 923 a shot with my Rampage Formula and some XFX 9800GTX Black Edition

It worked the first time, really awesome, rather easy to implement it too, thanks guys for all the hard work you have put down. :toast:

I have to register to this forum so that I could thank you all, you should have all the credit there´s, much appreciated. :respect:

Only thing I have noticed so far is that the fans do not go down after a 3D app is done, they still at the same rpm as at full load. Someone else have that issue?

Here´s some screenies

can you mod them so i can make use of more than 4gpus in sli?

yes. works fine.

any more and the option changes to

"enable quad sli"

and

"physx enabled on _______" (the 5th card)

im wanting 6 card sli though so i can use 3 295s and eventually 3 395s

no. you can sli 2 295s or 4 evga classified 285s.

no other combos atm

its not just a simple limitation that can be removed im guessing.

how about SLI physx?

would it be possible to have 2 cards dedicated to physx?

im i just asking for something so crazy that its not even worth trying?

or is it just not possible unless you have a desk in the nvidia dev lab?

but at first try v0.71. if it doesn't work then try v0.7

OK test done.

HALmod v0.71 + replaced modded 190.62 nvlddmkm.sys by original +ASUS cert = SLI enabled

HALmod v0.71 + Clean install Unmodded 190.64 + ASUS cert = BSDO on detecting hardware, did 2 install method setup/device manager

HALmod v0.71 + Clean install Unmodded 190.62 +ASUS cert = SLI enabled

thanks. about BSOD if you have SLI patch enabled and place original hal.dll on its place, after reboot you got bsod.

I didn't place original HAL back on. The BSDO happened during driver instal.

Gonna test 191 WHQL drivers now.
