How To: Enable SLI on pre-i7/i5 hardware

So I decided to delete the "Serious SAM HD" Profile from the list. I used nvidiaIspector for that.
Now it starts in windowed mode!

Simply add the game exe from nvidia control panel game list so you have the profile there.

switch between full screen and windowed mode - ALT + ENTER

Odd, maybe a glitch with quad sli? I have also run Serious Sam HD in sli, it works perfect for me. Try setting it down to dual sli, (if you can, I only have 2 cards, so I don't know what quad does) the game really doesn't need more than that.

It happens with all games not only Serious Sam HD. I have tried LOTRO, CODMWF, Serious Sam, Crysis, Fallout New Vegas.
Dual SLI (One GTX2 295) works fine.

Has anyone managed to get 2d surround working on a pair of single pcb gtx 295's? Ive tried both patches and multiple driver revisions, every time a surround resolution is applied the system locks up with 3 black screens. All 3 of my monitors support the same max res of 1920x1080.

Specs are

asus p5q-e
2 gtx 295's
coolermaster realpower 850 modular
q6600@3.4
4 gigs of kingston pc1066 ram.

Yup - exactly what happened to me before I starting using Administrator mode

I am back Anatoly,

Got your email back the other day. I sold last Extreme mother board, but I missed it so much I bought another one.

We have SLi Hack working, PNY GTX 580s and ASUS Crosshair IV Extreme, did nothing different than last time, just tried it for shits and giggles.

One thing is different, I have a SLi cable from my EVGA 770 Classy, I used. Looks like that could have been all it was.

SLi-Hack 0.9B, latest, with drivers 263.09 from nVidia.

257.12 for example. did you move cards?

Hi,

Just tried now as I was away from home and main machine.

Downgraded to 257.12
Moved cards so they sit next to each other now (was using PCI-E 16x slots 0 and 2 out of the 4 available, now is 0 and 1 (make it 1 and 3, moved to 2 and 3 if they're numbered the other way round).
Still no luck (both cards seen and working, no sli but physx configuration shows in control panel, getting some blue screens in the windows SLI patch boot that I don't get in the regular boot)

Last thing I could try would be to change the SLI bridge. Got a flexible one that might be defective, will try to see if I can get a rigid one of correct size on the web...

New version. Link below. Please test

a special thanks from me anatolymik! :)
i just saw yours in the about of the patch!
i also wish you a happy new year, and a great Christmas, may only good things happen to you!:)

Thanks SO MUCH for the new version Anatolymik!!!

Cheers, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!! :toast:

Thanks once again for all your HARD and GREAT work!!! :respect:

Thanks once again Anatolymik.

Sorry for the ubber noob question, but what is the recommended method for updating to v1.0?

Thanks!!!

Hi Anatolymik,

Here's a wacky thought;

Can you demonstrate that the NVidia driver code deliberately crashes the system if it detects a non 'official' SLI motherboard?

Don't know about elsewhere in the world but here in the UK we have very strict laws about such things. If NV were shown to be deliberately causing crashes, that would be illegal. Moreover if it can be 'formally' demonstrated that SLI works correctly on non-certified motherboards (but for the protection) then sabotaging a system because you've detected a competitor's product, falls foul of competition regulations as well.

All well and good in theory but it would hinge on being able to demonstrate, beyond reasonable doubt, that there is malicious code present in the driver which serves no other purpose.

Think I had a 'brain fart' this morning

enough to push Update button and reboot

Hi Anatolymik,

I did an update from 0.91. It said, 'Update Successful' but none of the version information changed so I'm going to remove it and do a manual reinstall. No big issue, just an FYI.

Thanks again.

Tried 1.01 patch on fresh installed 64 bit win 7 on my Z800, same problem as before!
When you loading the SLI patched OS from boot menu computer restarts after windows logo with no error.
Any ideas?

what you see on display. you see windows loading bar? or you immediate got restart?

1.01 it's a version of installer. not patch

Hi Anatolymik,

Just got my first crash on '1.0 Final', the old issue whereby the systems freezes till I do a power-off reset. Only been running it for a few minutes, playing Oblivion as usual. Going to give it another try. If it does it again this evening then I'll regress back to 0.91 to see if that clears it up.

BTW I note from the other post that there is a 1.01 but I DL'd a '1.0 Final' from your sig. Is there a direct link to this? I assume it's newer than 1.0 Final.

Thanks.

on 0.91b did you have that problems?

Ok, on reboot I couldn't get to the login screen, the system froze again so I booted into safe mode and uninstalled the patch. Still couldn't boot back into normal mode. Going to have to try a complete driver re-install.

Could be just a co-incidence but two crashes in 5 minutes on patch 1.0, following a week of stability on 0.91 (using the same 260.99 drivers) suggests to me there's an issue with 1.0 Final.

A

...Wow - this time the crash was so bad it corrupted the driver so that the installation disappeared from Control Panel. I had to delete the directories manually, uninstall the cards from Device Manager and then run Driver Sweeper. Don't know if it's enough to bring the system back up yet, trying now.
