How to get MLAA, etc to show up in Cat 10.12 CCC2

MLA_DEF

not

MLA_NA

Steevo, part of the reason why we see _DEF use the numerical value of 1 is when a slider function is associated with it. Open up CCC's 3D Application Settings and open up your registry and go to the /000X/UMD sub key. Take a look at the following:
AntiAlias_DEF (for AA slider)
AreaAniso_DEF (for AF slider)
TextureLod_DEF (texture filter quality slider)
TextureLod_DEF (mipmap detail level slider)
VSyncControl_DEF (Wait for vertical refresh slider)

Using MLF_DEF 0 has worked for others.

The only problem I have now with enabling all this is that I dont see a slider for Texture Filtering Quality??? Anybody know how to enable that?

A friendly reminder about Radeon Pro utility in general as well as for those having issue with this.

Shouldn't need a third party app for these things but, then again, shouldn't need all these manual registry tweaks either to get access to full features and settings.

True, if you are not sure what your doing using that program should fix it. If it doesn't enable MLAA I suggest ending the process for Mom.exe and restarting it to see if it works or not. Unless a more recent version fixes that (as it didn't work for me).

Why is this necessary in the first place to get these additional 3D options to show up? I thought perhaps cause CCC2 was a preview as yet but in your first post you ask for "10.12 CCC2 preferred".

I'm not sure I understand your question. The OP is not mandated that everyone must make these tweaks. I used preferred for CCC2 because that what I used to get it to work.

No of course I thought these were options that were available in CCC by default in (more recent) prior versions...perhaps I am mistaken. Though MLAA was definitely there for me in Cat 10.11.

In other words, your first sentence is "there is a simple way I got MLAA working (Win 7/Vista)" but I don't understand why it wasn't working already in the first place in Cat 10.12...

but I don't understand why it wasn't working already in the first place in Cat 10.12...

because the cat makers like to take 1 step forward and 3 steps back.

introduce/fix in 1 cat, then take back/break in the next cats

c'est la vie :wtf:

but wait cat maker, we luv j00 realies :D

oh wait a sec, hes buggered off :shadedshu

It is applying quite a lot of MLAA in Vista to WMC pictures, and the overlay itself. Moving the mouse or clicking a button corrects the issue for a part of a second. I believe ATI is applying this also to static parts of the image more, so fast movign games or fast moving items don't get the application, but slow or non moving items like scenery do.

:slap::nutkick: Kind of hard to read it frim the camera shot itself:shadedshu

the reason i ask is because of this (excuse the resizing) sort of poor overlay of one controls over the other, plus kinda rounded corners on the left of the bar and square corners on the right with a smaller bar showing behind it .............. i'm just saying it looks like a photochop

compared to this one..... (and EQAA is compatible on 69xx cards only i believe)

That comes from using Von modded to get MLAA working. The problem is that he enables everything when he shouldn't. For example High Quality AF doesn't work at all as it's already enabled. And that mod adds some registry keys that you don't need. For example it will add (for those that have ...08002BE10318}/0000 as their main key for CCC):
...08002BE10318}/0001
...08002BE10318}/0002
...08002BE10318}/0003
...08002BE10318}/0004
...08002BE10318}/0005
...08002BE10318}/0006
...08002BE10318}/0007
...08002BE10318}/0008
In each of those keys you will find a few string values, etc all having a numeric value of 0. That 0001 through 0008 keys are found over 5 different locations in the registry (just do a search for TFQ_NA to find the different sets of keys). You can delete them but you have to know which is the main key for CCC. For some it will be easy as ...08002BE10318}/0000 is the main key for CCC. In any case here is what you do to delete the overlaping check box (which is for temporal AA). Go to: ...08002BE10318}/0000 and find TemporalAAMultiplier_NA and change it from 0 to 1. If you want to remove High Quality AF (as it doesn't work) then find AreaAniso_NA and change that from 0 to 1.

In the future it's a good idea to make a backup of any key you are about to make edits to by right clicking on it and select export. If you want to remove those excessive keys I suggest you back up your registry 1st.

Can anyone provide more info on what geometry instancing does exactly?

GI is a feature that can render an object once and then utilize special code to use that object again. Trees, bushes, leafs, etc. But that's an old feature though. If you want you can remove that from CCC by changing GI_NA from 0 to 1 (make sure you have it unchecked).

The options never show up in ccc for me as I'm on Vista and this is supposedly a 7 only tweak. Setting it on in the registry does enable it.

Just a heads up for everyone. If you have a feature in CCC that you want to remove like temporal AA, High Quality AF, Geometry Instancing, etc all you do is go to you CCC's main registry key ...08002BE10318}/000X and look for the corresponding feature using the "_NA". For example GI_NA and change the value from 0 to 1. Then end the process for Mom.exe then restart it. :)

GI is also used where many similar objects are being rendered like the asteroid belt in 3DM Vantage
or anywhere you see lots of grass or tree leaves say in FARCRY2 or 1 for instance

I got some quick questions...

  1. My EQAA isn't showing still, I have 5850/Win7, is that compatible?
  2. Can I mod multiple key's? My main key is 6 (1-8). I did everything and it seem's my MLAA isn't working, even though it's checked.
  3. If I unistall CCC over again, will it bring back my old key's? Before I mod anything else, I want to back up my registery, but I didn't backup the first part of modding.

I have no idea what you are saying. Lets' start at the beginning. What exactly did you do? And which cat are you using?

:( still cannot get eqaa working, I tried all the strings and even in different folders besides my number that my ccc told me. What should I do?

edit: i did notice that I had to manually put EQAA in the folder because it wasn't listed. I think only in the UMD folder it was..

I am asking you this:

- I already edited my key's in my registery without saving the orignial files. Is it too late to recover them completely? Do I have reinstall CCC2 again or any earlier version to restore the key's?

- I do not have the xEQAA (EQ) option under my Morphological AA Box in CCC2 menu. Why? Is it not available for 5850?

...08002BE10318}/0001
...08002BE10318}/0002
...08002BE10318}/0003
...08002BE10318}/0004
...08002BE10318}/0005
...08002BE10318}/0006
...08002BE10318}/0007
...08002BE10318}/0008

- My main key is 6. I edited all the features here like you listed. I get MLAA option, but it appears not to be working. Can I edit 0001-0008 to see if it will fix it? Also, the EQAA string was not listed when I edited it in 6. I had to manually put a new one in the folder not under UMD.

I'm sure the EQAA thing is for 69xx cards only

that's what i was thinking ^

Yeah no EQAA but you should get MLAA and the new Cat AI slider right? I too had issues with my 5850 and did everything right as far as I can tell.

Assuming you are using Cat 10.12 (not sure which one you are using) I would suggest a complete uninstall.

It can be displayed in CCC. Why it's not available for you only you can tell.

0001-0008? Did you use that mod program to enable MLAA? Post what CCC says for the 2D Driver File Path

this is what I get when i enable EQAA it's an extra check box next to MLAA

CCC2.JPG

not in the slider option but still looks like it means the same thing as what EQAA does i think

LOL yeah, you used that Von mod :shadedshu. Those registry keys 000X-0008 aren't needed. Inside those keys are the features for CCC with a value of 0 if I recall correctly.
