how will i know my cpu is fried?

hey suraswami.

im going to try that. if this doesnt work im going to strap a bomb on my mobo. and blow that shiet up.

OMFG!!! i tried using new thermal compound still doesnt work. does this mean my cpu is fried?

I haven't read through the entire thread so I don't know if you have tied this or not but putting your gfx card in another slot could solve the problem if you have another slot on your mobo? You should really fill out your specs

yea i already showed my specs. and i only got 1 PCI-E slot. its not my GFX. I think its the CPU.
umm and it doesnt beep when i take out ram. or anything or GFX. does this mean its my mobo?

I stand by my first comment - it could be either and the only way to find out would be to try another CPU in the motherboard or try your CPU in another motherboard. On my old ASUS board there was no difference between when the mobo died and when the CPU died.

it is most likely your motherboard. just a hunch.

Hmm strange hehe, atleast when my cpu died it gave off a good spark and smoke lol, poor amd barton :( had good times with it too :(,

hmmm but if it was my mobo. does everything on the mobo still work? like the cpu fan.
my computer turns on and all just no display or anything beeping or anything i can hear the harddrvie and thats about it

you know instead of wasting time, step 1
GO TO FRY'S ELECTRONICS.

Good advice if you have one to go to. ;)

send me you PC, ill fix it for cheap. =]]

what cpu did you have....maybe i can help...is it an amd.....i have an opty 144 that needs a home..lol

I'd say its probably mobo or CPU too, but if you get a full power on its probably the CPU.

Only option here really is just trying a different mobo or CPU.

Yes, everything still worked on mine when it died. You really need to get hold of a CPU to test with.

In my case all fans turn on, but will not post. Mobo died, but still can power on fans.

Asrock 775Dual-VSTA mobo
only supports 8x pci-e correct? which doesnt work with nvidia 8x00 series cards or is that only 8800s?

umm i dont know,
