Never tried this cooler before, always had good luck with scythe, but my friend recommended it. I'm idling @ 32c in bios , is that acceptable on an A10 7850k at stock clocks ? I noticed software monitoring says it a at 43 ...... I just was curious because of the wiggle I noticed.....everyone I've read comments on it as well.

The 212 Evo has been a cooler staple for quite a while; I'd say it would work pretty well for your A10 especially for stock clocks. If your cooler is not firmly installed and wiggly, I think i'd go for a reinstall to ensure it's nicely installed and giving optimum temps. What are you load temps?

My experience with the Hyper 212 is that it can be rotated back and forth slightly, but that this doesn't seem to negatively impact performance.

It will rotate a little if you force it but just dont. The 212 has been the "best bang for the buck" cooler for over 10 years. There is nothing negative about this cooler

People have been able to get incredible over clocks with this budget cooler. The Corsair H100 barely beats this cooler in stress tests

just gamed for two hours and hwmonitor says it maxes @ 65c

yes...it rotates a bit....the screws are all the way tightened ..i just got better temps with my scythe on my phenom II ....29c @ idle vs 32 c

Idle temps are irrelevant unless they are stupidly high. Load temps are what matters, 65c is a max reference for APUs. I would not think you should be hitting that unless you are running artificial stress tests.

You do need to be using the correct software to monitor temps, just google AMD APU TEMPERATURE...

Well I cant complain it's a pretty good cooler.

well i downloaded msi command center(i have an MSI board) after reading some articles and posts about how poorly the hwmonitor is for accuracy and the msi app is direct info from the bios ...the temps look MUCH better thru the msi app....

Coolermaster hyper 212 Evo + one aditional jetflo or sickleflo fan + arctic cooling mx 4 paste = Epic win ...

i have the double fan setup and just got done gaming for 2.5 hours...msi command center reports the apu @ 36c

The wide fin spacing is really nice on these coolers. You don't need a particularly beefy fan to keep the air moving through it. The only thing is you need good case ventilation if you are going to run a lot of watts, i found it more susceptible to sucking in warm air than some of the larger towers. Could be the stock fan, or just that it doesn't fill up enough of the case to block off air-flow routes

which case do you have?

Using the 212 myself , In the bios menu it will show higher temps as bios seem to push the cpu a bit , mine sits at +-45-50 in bios and idles at 31-35 @4ghz in desktop

Best bang for buck when bought it

Got one of my friends the Zalman CNPS10X Extreme (think this model) had slight better temps at idle at same price range

which case do you have?
just a generic case....i was just concerned due to the hi temps reported by hwmonitor vs the bios. it sits @ 26c as of right now

this is gonna be the best setup for that cooler,
2 fans for push/pull configuration and also a rear fan for sucking all hot air !

Regards,

I Did notice after the last time I service my pc ,that the block did turn quite easy once installed but after check the temp just left it
Even after a service the temps didn't change much - even while the fins are clogged full of Ginger hair :)

got same setup as that cooling a X5650
temps are 24 to 34 across the 6 cores not gone above 38 all day ( ambient air is 28 in the house as dad feels the cold all to easy these days )

Virtually all coolers do the same on the 4770K because of the TIM. I IGNORE temperature tests on the non-Devil's Canyon Haswell CPU's. Yes Chad, even yours.:(

Get HWInfo or any other software that reads cpu temp from the motherboard sensor and that's gonna be your cpu temp, APU's withstand up to 74*C and with that cooler you should try re-seating as you shouldn't be going over 55*C with it, i barely hit 60*C with my Gemini s524 and a mild OC on my a10-6800k.

yes, the msi app reads it that way and i havent been above 36c since.

Yes it's a great cooler I use them on all my rigs. I tried prime once with my i5 and was hittin around 80ish Celsius. Gaming o never go over 55c

The Hyper 212+ is solid better options on the market now exist that perform better for less but the Hyper 212 has proven reliable over time.

I have the older model Hyper 212 Plus on my I5-760 system and works like a charm. The EVO version is a upgraded version of the older Plus model. Great cooler for the Money. You can see the difference of the two.
