I am thinking of upgrading...

No, you need PCI-X for that card. What everyone said about the brisbane is what you want. What ever that cheap board, as long as it has AM2 and that cheap 2 gig kit is good. All the links are up above. And don't forget about that thanks button :)
I kno that for that card i need PCI-X for that card. but, what i mean is that like is there another card very similar that is in AGP 4x, not pci-x

Screw DDR400, go with DDR2. It's cheaper. Go get a damn cheap AM2 motherboard, Sempron, 1gig stick of DDR2, cheap psu/case, cheap hard drive and dvdrw and enjoy one cheap ass decent computer.
i think there is nothing wrong with DDR400. I like the cheap thing, but, I don't want a cheap PSU. Should I use ANTEC or OKIA?

Antec is good. I love my corsair, but you can get a good Antec for cheaper.

No you want DDR2, its better, faster, overclocking is better basically better. And you can get that same card in AGP.

RAM good, PSU, kinda low, CPU good. You want PCI-x board and card. AGP is 8x bandwidth, and PCI-x is 16x, double the bandwidth double the performance basically. Everything else looks good.

the board doesn't have PCI-X

also, I am going to get a 320GB SATA Hard Drive at walmart :)

Silly read, I said you want a board with PCI-X

Honestly, I don't see the logic behind choosing an $80 single core processor over the $70 dual core x2 3600 processor. The motherboard maxes out at a mere 2gb of memory while the Tforce mobo allows up to 4gb. The graphics card seems decent enough however.

Keep in mind that there is a difference to PCI- X and PCI-E. PCI-E = PCI Express = the standard that most, if not all, new graphic cards adhere to. PCI-X= another type of slot that isn't really used anymore.

Or should I do an Intel deal?

Isn't Socket 754 an AMD socket?

thanks, i saw a deal for a 754 mobo, but it didnt say intel or amd. maybe i was confusing this with something else....

Yea, Brisbane, the 1 gig kit( i didn't check the price between that and the 2 gig kit) the x800 PCI-X(which does stand for X-press [Express] and sorry if its some weird old slot that I don't know of ). that mobo everyone was talking about and a cheap 450 PSU EDIT: you don't want 754 because its an old socket. AM2 is new and you can upgrade when you want to.

hmmm....I got an offer from one of my friends:

AMD Athlon XP 2400+
ASUS A7V133-VM (socket a)
512MB SYSAIR PC100 x2
160GB EIDE Hard Drive x2
OKIA 450watt power supply

Should I take it or leave it?
Price: $100

Nope. Way too old and quite frankly, a waste of money (if your friend is expecting you to pay money for the system). If he's offering it for free however, I'd take that and use it while saving up for a better computer :)

alright... i just read all this, and 3991vhtes?? you admitted to being 14, and no offense, you probably don't have much experience. i just find it funny that you are basically ignoring everyone else who's trying to help you and refusing to do anything except your own thing. so, why did you ask for help?

I'm sorry, but I cannot be a part of this discussion any more tonight...I am being kicked off the computer...

I'm taking everything into consideration, and matching stuff up that I think is almost equivelant to stuff (except the deal from my buddy). Except the 754 thingey, that was a random thought....

Socket A is a waste, you cannot upgrade it at all. AM2 is prob cheaper too. Get what I posted earlier.

Yes there is something wrong with DDR400. It's more expensive and slower than DDR667 or DDR800.

Only 14? Haha.

Im 14 as well.... *coughs*

So yeah, kiddo, get a job or build PCs for people and make like what... $30 each PC? Ya know, it works!

Like even a sempy or celery would be a huge upgrade.

Like a sempy and some cheap AM2 mobo with IGP and PCI-E.... yeah. U get me.
