I recently bought a wireless card for my computer. i opened up the computer, made room in a pci slot, but because theres no room on my desk to put the computer horizontal (and i was just being lazy), i just put the card in the pci slot, pushed a little bit, then tightened the screw. then everytime i tried to turn on my computer, it freezed up after the xp loading screen. i was getting pissed cause it wouldn't detect that i installed new hardware. i even had thoughts of reformatting to hopefully solve the problem. one of my roomates told me to make sure it was in the pci slot good, but i dismissed that. after another 20 min, i finally opened the case and looked to see if it was inserted all the way into the slot. turns out the right part of the card wasn't even in the slot all the way. then i booted it up, and installed the card smoothly. just remember, kids: theres a reason you are supposed to put the comp horizontal when installing cards. and also that it says to "rock" it back and forth into place. i feel like a fool.
