IHS Removed Succesfully

Temps droped from 55C to 45C load, and 39 to 27C idle.

I think I'm the first member of techpowerup to do this successfully.

The idle drop is NUTS. I think I had a concave IHS.

Huh, man i have a guide for taking of the IHS, don't be so sure you're the first.

temp drops are crazy but average for IHS removal, now see if itll clock further

how do u take them off?

slip a razor blade under the IHS, and cut all the way around, but not too deep at all, maybe 3mm in. should just pop off, if it doesnt, go around once more, and try again, still doesnt, then dont force it...

Put it back into your motherboard, and put the heatsink back on. Your temps will be cooler, and you will get a better overclock.

Protect the die. AMD and intel put them on so they don't get as many RMA's. Boneface, it would lower temps.

Thanks guys.. I'm actually considering starting an IHS removal service. People can send me their processors, and for a small fee, say $10, and I will remove their IHS for them, and if I break it I will take full responsibilty for replacing the processor.

What do you guys think of that?
