I'm waiting for a Phoronix review. Michael has done it for the other mitigations and I bet you he'll do it for these as well. This exploit is a little more damning for WIndows than it is for Linux because you don't need elevated privileges to use it in Windows whereas you need to be root in Linux. Honestly though, I think this is a lot like the spectre v1. It's that exploit that's so annoying to use that it's damn near impossible to do anything useful with it, yet we're bending over backwards to kill performance in order to mitigate the possibility of something with root access using this exploit to do something more malicious than having root access as malware in the first place.
By the way, did you notice that Intel's 52-week stock price is at a low? Might be a good time to buy. We're going to be seeing a dedicated GPU and some MCM goodness in the future, right?
