Today Dutch company Deonet known for their strange USB storage designs has yet again introduced something different. Deonet claims to have made the worlds smallest production USB stick. Coming in at a meager 31.5 x 14.8 x 7.3 mm, Deonets touts seem to be true.

The stick is set to hit the market in 4, 8 or 16 GB flavors at the PSI Düsseldorf this coming January. According to Gizmag, "It's based around something called the Micro UDP chip (where UDP stands for the USB Disk In Package assembly process, which sees the controller, flash IC, substrate and passive components molded into a very small, single package), which is less than half the physical size of other USB memory solutions."

Since this USB stick is so small its said to fit flush and is almost invisible on a dark surface. No pricing has been set by Deonet yet.

The irony of it is that you'd have to attach it to something much larger, in order not to lose it!

I really don't see any purpose in having USB sticks so small.
Can't even really call it a stick.
More like a stub.

I'd rather prefer a USB stick which is at least a couple of inches and has fast data transfer.
The smallest USB stick I have is a limited edition SanDisk Cruzer Blade.
Sure it's small but it's data transfer speed is absolute rubbish.

I can see placement for this in cell phones and such I guess. Dunno to be honest.

Anyone else glance at the name of this post and read "Worlds Smallest Dick?"

The topic. Lets stay on it.

I would rather have worlds fastest USB FD.

good for me to attach to the USB port on my cars CD player.

readyboost on a laptop

USB "sticks" have become such a huge gimmick. Some of them are cute, some are stupid, and some are outrageously overpriced. To small is to small, if I back up some data the last thing I want to do is loose the drive I put it on!

You see what you want to see I suppose.
Or he simply seen what is in front of him :D

I want this. I like to keep a flash drive in my wallet, so the smaller the better. Currently I just use a MicroSD card reader that's basically just the size of a standard USB plug.

I'd still be worried of sticking that stick in my wallet.
I can't remember the brand, but at work we have these USB 'sticks' which are literally an inch of rectangular plastic, I think they may have been made by verbatim.
Those would be more appropriate than these things.

Nah, I like it as small as possible, with just that little ring on a string. There's a nice spot in my wallet that's perfect for tucking it into and just leaving that ring hanging out.

Nice. With these tiny things you could totally hide them all over the planet and troll pervs into GeoPorning.

up to 16GB in such a tiny stick? That's amazing to see, but not sure if its amazing to own... unless they make a neckless. but it has to be ellegant

Laptops where you want it flush with the computer so it doesn't get hit/broken.
