Is it still worth getting an analog controller if you play on KB+M ?

Serious sweaty games e.g. PvP anything, any person camera with waepons in hand, KBM.

Single player games with mostly exploring/weapons not always drawn out, hack&slash games, racing games, controller.

GTA V is weird. I use both. Controller when I'm just cruising. KBM when I need to shoot from cars.

Don't invest on Xbox Elite controllers. Even MS acknowledged that the new one had hardware issues. And the reddit thread had tons of people who had multiple out of warranty (does it even have warranty?) defective units. Just get a regular one. If you want you can just plug in via USB and use it wired.

When you press a button on the controller, all the button prompts will show controller buttons. If you move the mouse, they'll show KB buttons again. The start button (on the controller) usually acts as Esc while the menu button as Tab key or map. You can always go to settings and check which buttons do which.

Been using logitech f310 since like forever. Analog sticks are still fresh, probably best pad Ive ever used.
It doesn't have heptic feedback iirc. F310 was basic. F510 had heptic. F710 was wireless iirc. Good alternative for markets where MS doesn't sell its wares officially but idk why people would get them over the official controllers.

Too pricey for what one gets... 8BitDo controllers have similar quality at half the price.
Personally been eyeballing a set of these;
It's really good to know those exist. I have to ask though... what's the point of analog sticks on a SNES controller?

They're styled like SNES controllers but you can use them pretty much for anything. And modern games require analog sticks.

If you just want to use Xbox pad you can use it without the Ms dongle and user regular Bluetooth receiver instead.

Emulators and some third person games. Dreamfall: The Longest Journey have spectacularly bad contols, and with a controller it's ... still bad, but not as bad. And some games are good for couches, and then a controlleris basically a necessity.

It's just shaped like a SNES controller, it's otherwise a solid standard controller. Or was that question asked in jest?

I do have one with my headphones.can it do 2 devices at the same time?

I don't know if I like the xbox shape.I'd like something more slender.

KB & mouse, Xbox gamepad, Oculus Rift.. I have a solution for every type of a game :)

(well, a steering wheel would be cool, but I don't play driving games that seriously :) )

Personally it's the best gamepad what I've used. X360 pad was already great, but the d-pad was the worst ever.

Damn, I don't have any batteries, I could try otherwise connecting my phone with bluetooth in same time as I use the gamepad with bluetooth. I also have a generic cheap bluetooth dongle from ebay. :)

Not really... to me, it looks like they made controllers to mimic a bunch of controllers that existed for various consoles, so to me, I don't really see the point in the analog sticks. Not that it wouldn't be useful, but I would be the type to get an SNES controller for SNES games, a PSX controller for PSX games and so on.

I have a PS-USB adapter, perfect for PS1 emulator gaming with a genuine PSOne gamepad. :)

I absolutely need a NES USB controller. Playing NES emulator with Xbox gamepad is just... nah.

I had one of those in the past (I had an adapter for SNES controllers too), but these days I just make do with a DS3 and the xinput wrapper.

Heh, I had that before I bought a X360 gamepad. It just sucked that DS3 didn't work without 3rd party drivers.

I agree, but the xinput wrapper is pretty acceptable. It's not enough to make me go out and buy another controller... especially one my hands aren't used to. As far as consoles, I've mainly been a PS guy my whole life (and some retro consoles like SNES, 3DO)... not an Xbox guy.

Yeah, the Xinput emulation works fine, even tho I play PS3 these days sometimes, I just hate the triggers. And the placement of analog sticks.

I also grew up as a PS kid (PS1 in 1998, PS2 in 2002... started PC gaming in 2004), but after I played few hours with a X360 pad, there's no going back. Of course that's everyone's own taste, but now Dualshocks feel just so small (and I don't have big hands!).

e: What's great about PS3 & Xbox 360 these days, is that games are hella cheap.

I just bought a new joystick to go with MW5 which I hope to play on my living room TV.

I gave it a go with a gamepad last night, but it turned out just to be too darn difficult.

I haven't used a joystick in over 10 years, but it'll give me another reason to get back into space sims :)

If you have large hands the shape of the xbone controller is more ergonomic, imo. I can't play too long on a DS4 without having to do some finger stretching. I prefer the offset analog sticks as well.

what controller do you recommend ? I'd like wireless,no more cables on my desk please.

The Xbox 1 wireless works fine in Windows. There are several clones on the market too. The ROfck Candy are actually pretty good controllers for the money.

They're there so you can play any game you wish. The controller design is just for a bit of nostalgia. One of the key selling points. They are fully functional controllers. For example, I would never touch the following because they lack that functionality;

When I look for a controller, I look for quality of build, fullness of functionality and appeal of styling. I balance those equally. For example, the controller I bought as a spare for my WiiU;

Wish I could find this exact controller but with a USB connection. It fits perfectly in my hands, button placement is great as is build quality and it's got all of the functionality I desire.

Same here, been playing FF XIII on PS3 last couple of days and DS3 feels hella small. And I also like the offset analog sticks, Dualshock feels weird after I've got used to X360/Xbone gamepad.

I have large hands and I have no problems with DS4 or XO. I even find that DS4 suits me better. That's probably due to my Nosferatu piano fingers. Or simply using PS styled controller for multiple years.

PS style controller since 1996, still that's not optimal anymore. :D

My first playstation was the 2 and I've bought them all since so I would say I'm well acquainted with the dualshock form factor as well. But 2h+ of playtime just murder my hands. Especially with a game like God of War. Can't even imagine how bad it would be if I played Bloodbourne. But it didn't use to happen, so maybe it's due to me getting older.
