this is what im supposed to be geting (i think) http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/...q3-2008/3DMark06-v1-1-0-3DMark-Score,794.html

and this is the kinda FPS im supposed to be getting on crysis...http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/gaming-graphics-charts-q3-2008/Crysis-v1-21,747.html

im pretty sure phenom doesnt fail SO bad that it would make me get 20 fps less than im supposed to...im gonna try reformatting my HD and re-installing just windows vista home premuim 32-bit, might be a software problem...if that doesnt fix it, i might as well try RMAing it (ive only had it for around 5 or 6 months...and im pretty sure Visiontek has a lifetime warranty...) superbowl just makes me madder, the touchdown that the stealers got that was over 160 yards was BS =( (no i dont live in arizona XD)

The Phenom 9500 is an average quad core, granted its no 9950 BE or Phenom II, but its good enough to game with without bottlenecking issues. If you can get a full refund I'd replace the 3870 with a completely different card, although its powerful there are a lot of new cards which are a bit faster for around the same price.

I must admit your Crysis results are low and they are not consistent with someone that is scoring over 8k in 3DMark 06. If its any consolation I've seen people on quad core Q9xxx systems and GTX280s and get rubbish Crysis results.

PS. take Toms hardware with a pinch of salt, it's not healthy to obsessively compare yourself with it because they are using super rigs when testing.

Edit:

If you can overclock that Phenom from 2.2GHz to around 2.8Ghz you won't regret it, I'm not saying its the root problem but its unhealthy to have such a CPU sitting at stock :p

Edit 2:

ive heard that the phenom is a horrible overclocking processor...i cant get past 2.4ghz without BSOD on boot...even though i have an aftermarket fan =( (although i guess ill try until i have enough $$ to buy a phenom 940....)

Yeah the first generation of Phenoms were not that good for overclocking, you should be able to get 2.5 GHz easy though stable on a stock fan.

When you attempted to overclock it did you increase the bus or multiplier? You may need to increase the voltage stightly as well to achieve a stable OC with out BSOD.

Ok, i went into my bios and the overclocking section is VERY confusing (ive never really oced before) Here are the settings:

Processor-NB voltage .8000v-.8750v
Processor Voltage-.8000v-.8750v
Processor Frequency Multiplier-8.00x to 11.00x
Southbridge voltage-Auto, 1.25v-1.40v

Right now my system is telling me that my Vcore voltage is 1.344v, and its set at auto.
The time when I oced my processor, I just bumped up the FSB in incriments of 10, I probably found some way to do something wrong :( what voltage am I supposed to bump up when I am OCing my processor? (i have a good aftermarket fan, my idle temps are around 30-35c and full load on prime95 never go's above 50c)

oh yeah, and my Mobo is an asus M3A (if that matters)

please help me pl0x =P
