Just Cause 4 is finally back, letting you blow up things in even more spectacular ways than the predecessor. The game world is set in South America this time, with beautiful rain forests and mountain ranges. We tested the game on 14 graphics cards, including the whole RTX lineup and the Radeon RX 590.

I love these game benches. Thanks for doing em.

A great single player experience will be had.

Good to see AMD's midrange beating NVIDIA's, a solid win for RX 580 (more so than 590, considering the price).

I bought Just Cause 3 a while back on sale but have yet to play it, I did really enjoy the 2nd game so maybe i'll play it and then pick 4 up, too.

Yet another new release showing the 2080Ti already struggling at 4K to maintain 60fps.

...Next years top releases probably won't even manage that.

That reference vega 64... What is it at, like 1200 core? Lol

Ha, the 1080ti does 60fps, dont need that 2080ti garbage

Oh look, the 2080ti can only just do 60fps, guess it wont last forever like all the other GPUs I buy

WTF, you cant even do 60fps on a $1,200 GPU!!

I like to comment on things and be really "helpful". Today I didnt have the time to look at the graph. Please pick from the senstence above that appropriately bashes the 2080ti. Have a good day, or a bad one actually, IDC, if you hadnt noticed Im sort of miserable.

i cant see why even say or write any amd rx gpu there or vega.

they efficiency is so terrible.

vega64 have same performance like gtx 1080 but 1080 need half power than vega64, its should banned.

these performance test must imclude powerdaw, and not hole system, just gpus.

all amd gpus place is bottom and deep there.

1080ti already gimped to 2070 level...

This always happens. This is why I don’t go 4K. The x80Ti’s can rarely play all new games at 4K and decent frame rate. It goes south quickly when newer more demanding games come out.

It’s going to be a long time before an 80Ti card will come out that can comfortably play 4K all day long and be way ahead any new or upcoming game releases.

And I can barely read what you're writing most of the time. Learn how to properly spell and write a sentence with actual meaning dude, genuine advice. I hope you understand what I wrote, I almost get a migraine when I see one of your comments.

to be honest last whql drivers from nvidia (and 2 before that) are a horrible mess from nvidia...
idk if it is intentionally or not but last drivers force in cod and some other games max fps 85!?? on my 1080ti.. users in nvidia forum state even less fps like 24
ddu cleaner and went back to 416.94 and voila performance went back
it has been 1 step forward 2 steps back with nvidia drivers the whole last year... loser 20xx gen i won't even mention

Indeed, the reality is the latest and greatest hardware gets pushed hard by the latest (but not necessarily) greatest games.

It's why I love reading about "future proof" cards, I keep looking at W1zzards graphs and wondering where they have all disappeared to.

could you benchmark the game using 4/4 4/8 6/6 6/12 8/8 8/16 core thread configuration?

To be honest, I was about to buy the game yesterday, but after reading numerous Steam reviews, which are now showing as mostly negative, not to mention the Steam forums, I've put my purchase on hold.
The trailers promised 'revolutionary graphics' or words to that effect and all I'm reading about are complaints that the game looks like something out of the 80s, the water especially, which doesn't even splash when something hits it.
But for me, the real deal killer is the inability to remap keys. Are they serious?
Movement keys are locked to WASD and cannot be changed, which is un-effing-believable in this day and age.
I was so looking forward to this game too, having really enjoyed JC3.

Yeah gotta play JC3 first, got it installed but barely touched it, need to go and blow some shit up.

Are you mad bro? Even on Balanced mode, 2/3 of power is needed, not half... On Powersave mode resulting in only 1-2% less performance, there is a "gigantic" 50W difference. Love when someone is just too lazy to check results or - the worse one - deliberately lies.

These are the facts. You got 30% performance jump compared to a 1080 Ti for +50% money. And you already have AAA games like Shadow of the Tomb Raider that can't squeeze out 60 fps average in 4K, or Just cause that can only get around 60 average, meaning a minimum of 40 or so is expected. So yes, propagating it as a 4K card may only be true for already released titles, as the more demanding ones will never get to 60 average on Ultra settings.

Thanks TPU for the benches, even taking driver optimizations, etc. on new releases it's always interesting to see.

As for Just Cause 4, what a disappointing game imo. I gave it a try, but it's just not fun. Maybe it's just me but playing it I couldn't help feel like in late 2018 an arguably AAA game needs more than just destruction. And beyond the destruction, there just wasn't a whole lot to it. Enemy AI, the story, gameplay, etc. were all pretty underwhelming. 10 years ago just running around blowing stuff up to see the physics was enough for a game. Now, it just seems like quick distraction but not enough for a $60 title.

Thanks for the performance analysis @W1zzard but frankly, whether it's a 2080Ti, an RX580 or a GTX970, we're not going to see much difference.
Granted, some of the scenes look pretty, but the game is ruined by some extremely low quality rendering in many areas of the game, that have made my eyes hurt.
I'm hoping that they address these issues and give us what they so optimistically promised.
