Making Crossfire Work and Optimization

3dmark 06 is all about hte CPU anyway, you get more points just for having more CPU cores/threads. its useless for comparisons between CPU types.

Thats right cos the score is determined by a smaller portion of CPU and a bigger of GPU scores so increase the CPU score and u have bigger overall score.
But i am wondering,is that the case with vantage too?

yes, but to a lesser extent. the only way to get a 'legit' comparison of video performance is to base it on the GPU score, and ignore the CPU and total scores.

Well after many hours of updating tweeking i think my Quad fire is working proper:rockout: now my 3dmark06 score 19842 and vantage went up to 16465:D im still tweaking but thanks to all that helped me out:respect:
think i will join another thread and maby get some help with OC ing the cards themselves.
and yes VISTA sucks!!!

Wow, you really need to put a hurting on that quad. I get just over 19k 3dmark and just under 15k with my Q9400 at 3.56ghz and one (1) 4870x2.

What I really what to know is if you have done any gaming on it with real games and what kind of load you are seeing across the 4 gpus?

ya i know this quad is a little finnicky over 3.6 an air, and no i have not done any gaming yet after reciving my second 4870x2 my main concern has been just to get it to work proper, now you are right its time to put it to work, im no pro at ocing but im sure it can go faster lol.

I was wondering,is there a way to chose which RENDERING mode the setuo will use?
I mean there are3 of them right?
scissors
afr
and chess board right???
So can i chose at will???

no you cant. the drivers are set by ATI, to whatever works best in the program.

Thats too bad...
And another thing,i remember someone writing about a crossfire logo appearing on the screen when it was enabled but i cant spot it in mine?
What catalyst is this on?

right click the ATI icon in your system tray near the clock, its hiding in there.

This thread makes me want another 4870.

LOL same makes me want another 4890 but i dont think SLI or Xfire is really ready enough for me yet, it just doesnt warrent the price for another card / performance increase

I keep getting an ati.diag blue screen or something like that when I have both cards in but they both work invidually cam someone tell me why this is?

This thread makes me want another 4870.

It made me want anotherr 4850 too!AND SINCE I FINALLY BOUGHT IT i feel so peaceful ..!!!:laugh::laugh:
SO DO IT!!!!!!!

As long as you get two cards with a decent BIOS on them (aka, dont buy gigabyte) you'll have a wonderfun experience full of shiny pixels and 24xAA

I think your most solid buy would be sapphires...
They are of great quality and oc pretty well!!!
Even my stupid pcb dual slot 4850 ocs @750 core and still increasing!
So go for SAPPHIRE!

Alright, I'm actually going ontopic here :D

Just bought a GA-MA785GMT-UD2H (rev. 1.0) with integrated GFX (reported as 4200 series) and I'm trying to get it Hybrid Crossfiring with my HD4850.

Nasty thing is: in CCC, the second adapter (4850) is shown as Disabled. It's not disabled in the device manager or anything. And with a disabled adapter, I can't CF these biatches...

FYI: running win 7 x64.

I don't think you can xfire a 4850 and onboard. Only certain cards support hybrid xfire.

The board supports it and they're both 4XXX cards if I can believe those numbers...

thrackan: wrong. SERIES doesnt matter- CORE does.

that 4200 has the same core as a 3200 and a 3450 - it does not use the same core as 4830/50/70/90, so it is NOT crossfire compatible.

Yeah but only certain 4xxx series cards support it i believe.

Hmm, that's pretty shit then. Guess I'll be disabling onboard again.

And here I was thinking ATI actually made some sense numbering their products...

When I set up my crossfire, I just installed both cards and the bridge and enabled it in CCC. So setting it up this way will give me better performance?

no.

some people just had no crossfire option show up, and doing it this way made it work for them.

I too, just slapped both cards in at once, installed windows and away i went.
