I was JUST THERE before posting the previous reply but i failed to see it ... blind ...

Note to self: change glasses' perscription ...

Changed the setting in FF as well.

That should eliminate issues, cpu load on a webbrowser is able to handle such a basic task today. No sense in putting unnecessary load on the gpu.

OK: now i just have to wait until it does it again, or not, since i can't make it do this on demand.

Worth a shot.

I guess if i was noticing Game corruption Or overall system Instability I'd send a part back.

I have hardware accel disabled on my rig in waterfox and IE 11. Gpu doesn't get loaded anymore.

as another idea, try a different monitor output?

Maybe HDMI has the bug but DVI or VGA doesnt - give it a try if hte problem persists

When I had an AMD card, I also got those random cursor corruptions. Everything else including games was fine. Nothing to do with browsers or software in my case.
Never knew why. I suppose some driver issue.

I've had that funny cursor popup a few times on amd cards, seems to be a long standing issue that pops up now and again, for me i just move the mouse pointer to the top right of the screen and it goes back to normal.

It did it again just before i went to bed last night, while using FF with hardware acceleration disabled.

Switched to the other cable that came with the card. Was using DP and now i'm using HDMI.

Doesn't work for me:(

Permanently switched to waterfox (for now) also with hardware acceleration disabled and see if that helps.

The software for my Logitech mouse has an option to "calibrate" for a surface. Try that and see if it helps with the jumpy cursor.
Laser sensors aren't supposed to be confused by any surface, but I have seen a slight improvement after "calibrating" regardless.

Mine doesn't, and the software is up to date. Also, i changed the surface with same results. I did mention that the "jumpy behavior" ended when i reduced the resolution: now i only use the higher resolutions when playing games. While gaming, i haven't noticed any "jumping behavior", yet.

Since i have switched cables on the monitor, it hasn't happened, so far. Then again, i switched the cables little over 1 hour ago ...

Ah, the it's the sensitivity I guess. When you move your hand one inch, on a 4k monitor the cursor has to move 2x the number of pixels on a FHD monitor. To compensate, you'd need to double the sensitivity. It's possible the driver does some voodoo at higher sensitivities (mouse smoothing and such come to mind), which don't work too well in your case.

The monitor its cables are definitely the culprit here. It's the video drivers, the mouse drivers/setting or a combination of those. I hope this helps, because I don't have other ideas :D

You and me both!

Nope: just happened again, while using waterfox with hardware acceleration disabled.

DAMN :(

@HTC
please post a resolution if You find one....Your not alone in this issue, I did a laptop repair last year (cleaning, reapplication of TIM, RAM installation, as well as an SSD upgrade) , and the owner mentioned that His Mouse pointer would randomly turn from his usual pointer, into a odd, "checker board" type pattern line, i wasnt able to replicate it, but he has called me twice since that repair, telling me that it was happening, His is a HP elitebook 8460p running win 7 (upgraded to win 10), and id love to get him to stop calling ;)

Good luck. hope You get it sorted out.

Then that makes 3 os us: the dude from this post also has it (see post #3 in his topic). However, this is the 1st of heard of this from someone NOT USING a Sapphire 480 Nitro OC 4GB and is actually from a few generations ago, if i'm not mistaken.

So far, the only thing i know for sure that works is a restart, but that only lasts until the next time it does this problem again, so it's only a baind-aid rather then a fix.

Then that makes 3 os us:

sadly i cannot offer feedback on the topic Other than Technical specifications of the Device its occuring on, The owner is the only one it has occured with, but he has Shown me a photo of the issue...

i no longer have the pic, but it looked similar to the one below, that i found by googling similar issues....but it had other "artifacts" or parts to it than this one, in a checkerboard type pattern

The patterns changes, depending on where in the screen (while in waterfox). In game (grim dawn), i also can't play because the mouse has weird patterns. Tried taking a screenie of it (my sister has the camera so i can't take pics of the mouse pointer atm) but, for some weird reason, the mouse from the screenie is fine so i thought "it's fixed" but then i moved the mouse and it was with that pattern again ...

On the bright side, i figured out how to take screenies that include the mouse pointer (just need to close and re-open the program after ticking the "include mouse pointer" check box). However, on the dark side ... the screenie shows the mouse just fine and NOT what i'm actually experiencing ...

EDIT

I'll be changing the monitor's cable back since, with this HDMI cable i can't have high resolutions @ over 30Hz.

Points to something messed up in the video driver. Something gets corrupted on its way from the GPU to the screen.
Try switching to the iGPU and see whether the problem persists. Though going by your specs, the iGPU would still use the same video driver. But since it's different hardware, maybe it won't exhibit the same problem.

I have had this happen a few times with my AMD cards that were either clocked to high or were about to fail.....If I remember correctly sometimes even too high of a CPU clock caused it to happen too.

then there is this>>> https://community.amd.com/thread/180121

http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-3157289/cursor-corruption-amd-hardware.html

Can't use the 1st solution because i banned Blizzard products from my home. Can't see the link to tom's because it goes blank ...

Had tried using other mouse schemes but it didn't work. Just now, i tried something that fixed it ... sort of: by enabling pointer trails, the mouse is properly displayed. Fixed, right? Wrong: turn off the pointer trails and it becomes like before ... damn ...

How do i switch from one to the other?

Id report this to AMD forums, card manufacturer and mozilla dev and waterfox dev.

Will have to take a bunch of pictures and / or videos to document it, but it's not a bad idea.

For now, i'm using this.
Best bet for pictures and videos. I don't see this pixelation on my 290.
