the problem started when i replaced my processor and memory..

on the first day that i installed my new processor(Core 2 quad q8400 @2.66ghz) and memory(OCZ extreme 4gb(2x2gb)1600mhz OCZ3X16004GK)my PC booted and i was able to play...however when i play high end games(COD6,Crysis,etc) my PC crashed and gave me black screen...i restarted it and play and crashed again...after two days(i didn't used it) my PC won't boot...it just gave me a post code "25"...sometimes "6d","96"...i thought it was my GPU that is defective or my PSU( which doesn't have enough wattage)...but it was my memory then which i don't know the right timing and settings...i tried the timings 7-7-7-24 and voltage 1.9v it will somehow boot but after few minutes it will shut down..
is it my memory which is not compatible with my board?

please help me out guys...

my specs:
Board: DFI UT LP P45 T3RS
Processor: Core 2 quad Q8400 @ 2.66ghz
memory: OCZ extreme 4gb(2x2gb) 1600mhz (OCZ3X16004GK)
GPU: MSI hawk R5770
PSU: Silverstone STF50 500w

Hiya, Welcome to TPU!
Have you run memtest? sounds like either RAM or heat issues

Once you are able to get posting, go into bios and bring your NB voltage up +0.1v while leaving all other settings as you have them currently.

@scaminatrix
thanx dude...i have 6 fans...3 for the intake 1 exhaust and 2 for the cooler(thermalright true black 120 extreme..and an open sidepanel...i think it's not the heat issue..

@JrRacinFan
it's hard for me to go to the bios since i will restart my pc several times to be able to boot it up to the bios...but i will try it dude...

can somebody give timings and settings for my memory? i mean complete and step by step? please help me out...i almost lost patient with these problems...^^

The problem started when putting in new ram, so I'd recommend testing it with memtest at stock speeds. Reset BIOS then do memtest I reckon

i don't know how to do memtest T_T...i'm a newbie...when it comes to that...
at stock speeds my pc won't boot...it just gave me post code "25"..

i did...same results...it will only boot if i set it to timings 7-7-7-24 and @ 1.9v...but when i play it will crash

Just unzip it, then burn onto a cd and boot off it if poss.

when would i insert the cd? after boot up or before?

okay, try memtest with the bootable settings, eliminate the ram

insert cd before you boot, make sure bios is set to boot off cd-drive first

Here is a site with a screenshot of a failed ram test; note the red parts. If yours shows any red, it's RMA time.

When you are able to get it to post,in cmos setup, adjust boot prioritiy to set cd/dvd first insert disc then save and exit cmos. If done properly should restart into memtest.

i will boot it without ram?
after the cd? what would i do then?

No, leave the RAM in; only one stick (memtest should be tested with no more than 2GB of RAM at a time)
once it's booted off the CD, just leave it, it starts automatically.

will my pc be ok then?

It won't fix anything, it will just test the RAM to see if it's causing the pc to turn itself off.
After we've got a result from memtest, we can look at fixing RAM problems/seeing what else the problem is

In my experiences, bad RAM will usually prevent you from booting, cause your system to run really slow or give you BSODs.

Overheating is generally what causes a computer to just shut down on you.

You said you recently installed a new CPU. Make sure you set your heatsink correctly and that you applied enough thermal paste. It very well could be that your heatsink isn't seated correctly or you lack enough thermal paste to help dissipate heat and when you try to run an intense program (or game), the temps for your CPU jump past the CPUs safe threshold; thus causing your computer to turn off in an attempt to prevent permanent damage.

Since you've gone this far to work on testing your RAM, leave your RAM installed and let the memtest86 CD you have boot from startup (you may have to access the BIOS and adjust the bootable settings to have your computer try to start from your CD/DVD drive).

it's nice to be here...

It is, isn't it! Hope you stick around man. Be sure to fill in your system specs and maybe post a pic of your rig in the Your PC ATM thread...

There's some nice people that live in the Your PC ATM thread that will give positive comments and helpful advice.

temperature of my cpu is only 28 degrees...^^

will try this...thanx..

tried the memtest...it reported that my memory passed the test...still the same problem...:-(

Try the bump in northbridge voltage.

done....i think my mobo would just support this memory...cause this memory is optimized for x48/x38 boards...:-(

I've tried OCZ memory on three different occasions; all on different setups and it resulted in having issues all three times. Problems booting, BSODs and the such. Making adjustments to the timings, speed and voltage didn't solve my problems....nor did updating the BIOS for the MB.

I don't use OCZ anymore because of the experiences I've had. I stick with Corsair (for overclocking needs) and ADATA mostly. I've used G. Skill as well without any problems.

is g.skill trident 2000mhz tri-channel 3gb(1gb x 3) memory will be compatible with my motherboard(DFI UT LP P45 T3RS)?
