I currently have a 2 gig ram amd 64 3200 system. running vista 32 bit
here is my GPU specs
• ATI RADEON™ X1600XT Visual processing Unit
• 512MB GDDR3 Memory
• 8x AGP
• 590MHz VPU clock
• 1380MHz memory clock
• 90 nanometer GPU
• Ultra threaded core 3D architecture
• Avivo™ display enhancement technology
• 128-bit memory interface
• 256-bit ring bus memory controller
• Shader model 3.0
• Single Slot solution
where does that rank vs the newer Ati Radeon Hd2400/2600 pci-express cards?
my current card has the 2400 stomped in terms of vpu and memory speed.
though the 2600 512 card has mine beat by 10 mhz in the vpu department but my memory clock speed still blows its doors off.
reason im asking is i want to switch to a new phenom compatible MB which i know will only be Mother boards that also only support pci express. so im trying to figure out if i will take a graphics downgrade going with the 2400. and im not sure how much boost in performance the pci x16 is over my older AGP x8.
best case scenario. i read somewhere my card is somehow pci Express compatible through some external bridge chip? but havent been able to locate that.
