Because they presumably sell it a t a higher price? Perhaps they picked up a batch of EoL older cards, hacked them up and then sell them at what appears to be a good price for a 9500GT in the Asian market (where folks may have a lower budget to spend) and make a load of cash (and then vanish)?

You might need to shoot the photo in macro or adjust shutter speed to get a clear picture. Especially if you have a crappy camera like me.

because they get a $2 card and sell it for $30 and make a profit on the grey market.

if they sold $500 cards, no one could afford them, or risk buying them (it'd be more obvious they were fake too, whereas low end cards all look alike)

Well, it is, but since you told us what is written on it, it might help to find which core is on that card. When you get the chance of taking a better quality picture, please post.

Meanwhile, my eyes switched to C.S.I. mode and found an interesting resemblance between the core in this image:

And this one:

I took the resistor placement on the chip as a reference, since what is written cannot be fully trusted. In my knowledge, the card's design and component placement can change from manufacturer to manufacturer, however, the processor core can't. Hope this helps and it's completely open for discussion. I might not be right, the pic is very very blurry, but I'm 80% sure that it's a match.

Hey, sorry to see you've got a fake there. Very frustrating.

Among all the various glaring signs that it's a fake are the words "nvidia entry graphics" that show up in GPU-Z. I mean damn, there's no such thing - you should see a model number. And the English is all wrong. Classic sign of a scam.

Then you have a vendor ID of zero in GPU-Z. That shouldn't happen. Only DX9 (9500's are DX10) etc.

Wrong nvidia logo, like W1zzard spotted.

Finally, the fact that a standard driver off the nvidia website refuses to recognize it and won't install is another giveaway of a bad card. A defective card can do this too.

It sounds like you didn't pay for it at least, as your uncle sent it to you?

You obviously need another card, so I recommend going online and buying a new card from a reputable retailer in India. Then you'll get what you paid for. Prepare for the price not to be the "bargain" that you'll see in a flea market or eBay though. Steer clear of those.

Also, according to Wiki (dates is the only thing it's good for), the GeForce 7 Series cards were released in 2005 - 2006, which would explain the slip in the startup screen you've encountered. Following the GPU core comparison, with this info, a fake is evident and I'm more than convinced that this is a GeForce 7 card. When W1zzard takes a look at the BIOS, maybe the exact model can be confirmed (although, for now, I really think it's a 7300GS).

Well the camera is about 2 inches away from the GPU shot, and about 10+ inches away on the box shot.

5670s are decent cards. A GTX 460 is pretty good too.

I recommend you read some recent graphics card reviews right here on TPU (which are the best in the business ) to help you decide.

That is like 3850 performance with less power consumption.

Seen here I think 9800gt or 8800gts G92 are better even.
