I also heard that they are going to be invisible. So the fact that you won't be able to find one will be a feature, not a bug.

Hope that ends up being true in the next months. Surely not the only culprit, but with 70+card rigs showing up w/ the same card model... raises some serious questions.
Because the SUPERs would have more memory and more bandwidth? (no expert in mining, though)
I'm not the expert I used to be either (was once the crypto consultant writer for this site, but have fallen way behind). I do indeed hope the same hope as you though. Mining for any benefit it may have (and even that is debatable), needs to stay the frick away from GPUs.

Hi,
Just like anything if a new gpu gives higher productivity they upgrade and sell the older cards.

Hi,
Just like anything if a new gpu gives higher productivity they upgrade and sell the older cards.
It's a profit equation there. Upgrade costs money. Are they likely to recoup that cost? etc...

And the weather will be the same tomorrow as today. Another paper launch for Nvidia to make themselves look like fools announcing products while they can't even maintain supply?

lol, all the folks who bought a 3080/3070 paid the idiot tax

That really says more about you than anyone else. Kindly keep nonsense like that to yourself.

a slight hint of buyer's remorse, I don't blame you

So you think anyone who plays games at 100 fps now instead of 105 fps in a few months' time is an idiot, right?
yeah but mostly I think he rushed the purchase and got an inferior product he could've gotten if he waited a bit, but oh well, ergo idiot tax
if he could afford a 2080, I doubt he was in that much of a hurry to upgrade anyway ;)

You never fail to prove how much more of an idiot you really sound compared to anyone else in here.

To be fair to those guys who did buy a 2070 or 2080 non-super. Turing was the first series to come out with the Super refreshes. Your average user could not have known those were coming as that hasn't exactly been something Nvidia has done in the past. And there is really no information on what the Ampere Super cards could be either, so I don't think anyone was really an idiot for buying Ampere before this news came about.

I just got a 3060 Ti, I run Windows 7 and have a 1080p monitor. I guess I fit many people's definition of an "idiot".
But I have my reasons - I'm outside the US yet got a deal that many in the US would jump at; I tend to use my cards for at least 4-6 years at a time, so this card is plenty futureproof for me; I don't intend to go beyond 1440p, so it's the right choice over a 3070 or 3080; the card is absolutely gorgeous, and something I'd wanted to buy for a while(a FE); whenever I decide to build my PC I'm just going to port this card over so I'm immune to GPU price fluctuations in the future.

Still think I'm an "idiot"?

Buying a GPU that you can afford (regardless if you actually need it or not) or one that suits your needs is no one else's damn business. In your situation should folks consider if you're an "idiot" or not.....no, they should shut up and move on. It's your choice what you've done with your money.

Everyone should do their selves a favor to avoid stupid comments from stupid people and just not post about what they spend their money on. If you wish to post, be prepared to have those folks that go "Awesome buy!" and those folks that say "You're an idiot for spending money on something I personally don't approve on!". Once you post about your purchase and folks comment about your "idiot" choice, you either have to keep trying to defend yourself or just ignore them.....if you're unwilling to ignore them and want to constantly defend your choice, then maybe you shouldn't have posted to begin with.

No fck GPU is aviable from 60ti to 90 and they are make the Super Series, not bad :nutkick:
Amd isnt an option cause theyr terrible drivers.

Maybe it would a good try for Intel, i hope they crush AMD in the Entry and Mid Sector:)

in the context of the 1080 ti, the 2000 series were always dogshit. pay the price of a 1080 ti to get 3gb of vram less, a slight performance uptick, and the ability to try out novelty tech that runs like trash, because first-gen hardware for new tech always sucks ass, just like tessellation did on the first dx11 cards
if I was in the market for a new graphics card I wouldn't buy the 2000 series out of principle, because when compared to the 1000 series they were a total disgrace
now 3000 series - that's way better and what the 2000 series should have been from the get-go
You never fail to prove how much more of an idiot you really sound compared to anyone else in here.
ok, I am very upset that [person on internet] thinks badly of me on [online forum]. I will now try to fit in here more out of peer pressure by being a lot more sterile.
Your profile says you've got a Vega 64. You could have waited for the Radeon VII or the 5700 XT, so I guess you're paying the idiot tax too.
way to move the goalpost. vega 64 and radeon vii/5700xt are 1.5 years and 2 years apart respectively, the super series aren't even an entire year apart, is the same silicon, held the same launch MSRP price, and were introduced only because AMD gave a slight hint of competition.. not to mention, the vii was a joke, and the 5700 xt is riddled with problems to this day still
what you're saying would be a totally valid point if vega 64, radeon vii, and 5700 xt weren't a full year apart and were of the same price, but they're not, so I guess keep arguing LOL

I just got a 3060 Ti, I run Windows 7 and have a 1080p monitor. I guess I fit many people's definition of an "idiot".

what an absolute joke of a post, why are you trying to prove/justify your purchases to me, some random person on the internet?
but since you asked - yea, I think you're being an idiot by writing a long ass post about why you're not an idiot for buying a graphics card
That's the thing - I know what I'm doing, so I don't have to defend shit.
...you did anyway, but ok

So what? Your point was: if you don't wait for the superior product, you're an idiot.
My point is:
1. there's always something superior around the corner. You never know when, until it's announced.
2. if I play games at 100 fps today, and you wait for 6 months to play them at 105 fps, that basically means I've spent the last 6 months playing the games that I like, while you waited for a product that doesn't exist.
But hey, who am I to tell you? If you prefer waiting to playing games, be my guest. :)

Edit:
I'm not saying that your point is entirely wrong. All I'm saying is, not everybody can afford to wait for months for a few % more performance. Not everybody upgrades every year, and that doesn't make them idiots.

the 5700 xt is riddled with problems to this day still
As a 5700 XT owner myself, I'm curious what kind of problems it's riddled with. Care to elaborate? :wtf:

well, for anecdotal evidence (and people LOVE to underline that it's "anecdotal", works on my machine, all that) the display for my friend was fucked with the 5700 xt nitro+, he ended up refunding it, got a 2070 super - no problems at all
I still regret recommending the 5700 xt to him because he had to pay extra for shipping to RMA the damn thing :)
the 5700 xt I had (and refunded) had terrible GPU utilisation with november 2020 drivers, to the point where my vega 64 provides a better gaming experience
aside from that it also:
- artifacted on idle
- crashed randomly in opengl games
- crashed in video editing software using opengl
- crashed in internet browsers

Edit:
I'm not saying that your point is entirely wrong. All I'm saying is, not everybody can afford to wait for months for a few % more performance.
can't afford to wait? what? the more you buy, the more you save? must consoom? oh god I'm consooming, aaah?

doesn't exist? huh? last I checked the 2080 super does exist
But hey, who am I to tell you? If you prefer waiting to playing games, be my guest. :)
last I checked I have a graphics card and people who upgraded a 2080 also had a graphics card, but ok lol
obviously depends on how old their previous graphics card was, but I seriously doubt someone upgrading to a 2080 the moment it got announced was running a 10 year old GPU incapable of dx11/insanely weak GPU that's incapable of 1080p medium/high settings

Interesting, I've never had any of these problems. Sounds like a defective card to me.

can't afford to wait? what? the more you buy, the more you save? must consoom? oh god I'm consooming, aaah?
Let's say you're upgrading from a 750 Ti, or heck, even a 650 Ti. Do you want to wait for months to play the latest releases when you have a chance to play them right now?

doesn't exist? huh? last I checked the 2080 super does exist
It did not exist when the 2080 non-Super came out. It wasn't even on the roadmap at all.

I wouldn't buy a 2000 series gpu because it was dogshit when compared to the 1000 series, like I already mentioned
if we're talking about back then I'd just buy a used 1080 ti
if we're talking about now then I'd just buy a 3080 or a 6800 xt

things change when your competitor lights a fire under your ass, and I really doubt it wasn't on their internal roadmap, probably was on there in case of a rainy day, like when AMD mentioned back when the 2700X released that they would be releasing a 2800X only if there was such day :)

A 3080? Wouldn't you want to wait for the superior product to be released? Interesting.

How do you know if a future release is on their internal roadmap? You don't. You either buy a product that actually exists, or you don't.

Looks like that habit of NVIDIA's is here to stay.

oh right, I forgot they announced the super variants like a couple of days ago lol
yea in that case I'd wait for the super variants of the same GPUs

you don't, but it's obvious now that the 'super' line-up is a new thing that will stay
anyone who bought into the 2000 series early on paid the idiot tax regardless; from the tiny performance uplift, to the super variants, to less video memory for the same price... idiot tax is idiot tax, sorry

well, for anecdotal evidence (and people LOVE to underline that it's "anecdotal", works on my machine, all that) the display for my friend was fucked with the 5700 xt nitro+, he ended up refunding it, got a 2070 super - no problems at all
I still regret recommending the 5700 xt to him because he had to pay extra for shipping to RMA the damn thing :)
the 5700 xt I had (and refunded) had terrible GPU utilisation with november 2020 drivers, to the point where my vega 64 provides a better gaming experience
aside from that it also:
- artifacted on idle
- crashed randomly in opengl games
- crashed in video editing software using opengl
- crashed in internet browsers

last I checked I have a graphics card and people who upgraded a 2080 also had a graphics card, but ok lol
obviously depends on how old their previous graphics card was, but I seriously doubt someone upgrading to a 2080 the moment it got announced was running a 10 year old GPU incapable of dx11/insanely weak GPU that's incapable of 1080p medium/high settings
In this case, "afford" means that it makes no sense for him to wait for something that might or might not come up in 6 months, it doesn't mean whether he has the money for it or not. No reason to wait like a wimp for something that will perform with marginal improvements if you can get your hands on something NOW. He also wants to say that there will always be a new a newer product.. I mean how hard is it for you to understand? Is it the English language that's a problem for you or the concept is too hard for you to grasp?

I wonder if NVidia is going to do both "Super" and "TI" cards? It's certainly within the realm of their abilities.

That's adorable. I'm not upset. You're being more than a bit unpleasant. Perhaps you should take your own advice about about keeping comments to yourself. Thank You.
"let me prove to you that I'm not upset by writing a long reply"
ok
