Nvidia Driver Watch - stability and performance evaluation

So the input used really matter that much ?

Probably not , it is most likely down to odd glitches.

DSR doesn't work for me (grayed out) if I do not use the native resolution/refresh rate NVCP defaults to.

Okay, so in fact it's working with DVI too, but only after I've plugged DVI back. It apparently need a screen refresh. It's dumb, buy maybe @RejZoR could just try to plug and unplug the displayport cable ? That's still a bug, but it's still better than having to do a whole system reboot.

Windows 10 x64 whatever the latest edition non-beta
Nvidia 385.41
I lose my curser behind tabs except at the edges of the window tab on browser video on sites like Netflix, Go90 and Hulu after I start a video and then hit the back button on the browser...Edge and Chrome
I was absolutely fine prior to the update with the driver.
Have done a clean install of everything... Definitely the driver... Stopped with driver 384.xx revert

Just turned that on for the sake of science, DSR worked straight away, and you could also change to those resolutions through the built in Windows resolution settings.

How are you able to select 200Hz refresh for your Acer 144Hz monitor!?

It's overclockable :p

Ok, mine as well but mine goes to 165....

All Acer monitors I was looking at came with 2 year warranty, then I found this dell on sale, 1440p 165Hz, 3 years warranty.

That 200Hz OC is only possible on the more expensive ones I think?

Different monitors and panels, I'm on VA, yours is a TN.
It was a tier lower than the most expensive one, but it was the right size for me, so I went with it.

Well people i know some would say i should run games at 144hz but im limited with gtx 660 which drives my 2 monitors main one runs at 1920x1080 at 60hz for games and internet browsing and the other one run at 1440x900 at 60hz for movies and hardware monitoring. Well the trouble is hdmi is limited to data tranfer to the monitor if running at 4k as it alot to cram the texture rate as theres many factors that related to performance and details.

Id make sure hdmi cables support latest spec, also the 660 needs an upgrade to a 980 or 1050Ti at the least...

I dont have to upgrade every 6 months on my computer as theres a saying if it isnt broken dont fix it. Sure the pricing on graphic cards are insane thanks to the clowns who mines bitcoins. Last i saw the gtx 980 on ebay the chap who was hoping to sell it for nearly €550 no way in hell. Im staying with the gtx 660 which suits me for good

Why bother with ebay?

Luckily i can easily outlast it though, im Far too Frugal (~cough~ cheap) to spend on something optional, especially more than its worth. IMO, those who are willing to part with their $$ in large sums over reasonable Actual value will regret it, like the day after hooking up with a fat chick at a bar. Sadly for them, theres no denying the 14 inch GPU sitting in Your PC case ,or the 40% over MSRP either.

And I've tested DSR again on Wolf Among Us and the stupid feature again and still insisted running at 60Hz because I used 4K resolution. C'mon NVIDIA, I reported this months ago and you fixed NOTHING. Why run at 60Hz when actual output is 1080p and should be running at 144Hz. It's BS. It'll ALWAYS default to 60Hz instead of max refresh unless the game has a refresh setting inside its own settings. Which, out of 500 games that I own, maybe 5 actually have this setting. Meaning I can't use DSR at 4K because my output will then be at 60Hz which makes my eyes bleed. How hard is it to use max refresh rate at DISPLAYED resolution on the actual screen? Your drivers are damn aware at which resolution they actually output to the screen and not the one it renders at. So, why the hell is this crap insisting on 60Hz instead of 144Hz at which my 1080p panel runs at? God. Normal anti-aliasing doesn't even work in most games anymore so DSR is a cool feature to use it in ANY game. If only they wouldn't screw up the damn refresh rate... Meaning it's just as useless feature as regular anti-aliasing is these days...

Not to mention you have to do a system reboot after enabling DSR, otherwise it just doesn't work at all. Of course NVIDIA Control Panel doesn't tell you that at all. Something that wasn't required in the past which indicates it's broken just like countless other things.

F**k you NVIDIA. I'm sick of this BS. You buy a freaking 800€ graphic card and this is the treatment you get. It's pathetic. All the stuff people say how much better NVIDIA drivers are compared to AMD is complete BS. And even when you report a bug, they acknowledge it and then apparently never fix it because f**k that one guy with 144Hz panel who notices the difference, right?

Fixed this, for my own setup anyway; there are two resolution settings for each custom res under DSR. When you use the DSR multipliers, it will default to 60hz.

But when you use the custom resolutions under DSR, it will allow you to select the full range of refresh rates - see screens below. Also, between all these switches, no restarts required. So @RejZoR it looks like you either overlooked some things, or there is an issue within your setup (or game specific).

That cool to know but like i said before im hardware limited by monitors which runs fine at 60hz. I dont know if the gtx 660 can support higher refresh rate but not willing to kill my gtx 660 to find out

Those cards support upto 144 I believe, at least my 690 doesn’t go any higher than that.

Only If i can get a loan of a monitor that runs at 144mhz to test would be nice :)

But I wasn't responding to you at all. Also you don't break components by running them at 100% utilization, and if you do, something is either wrong with the product or your build.

Note that Rejzor and I do run high refresh monitors, so for us, it matters. There is no 'should run at' refresh rate, its not even selectable if your monitor doesn't support this. Only with a custom resolution can you get past that, but its pointless anyway.
