I wonder how all their partners feel that went ahead and changed product lines because of this?

Kudos to sites like tech sites that put the pressure on Nvidia over this. Really brought them a ton of bad press.

Great news! PC Gamers don't need GPP. Freedom of choice is all what PC gaming is about.

Thanks to Kyle Bennett for not giving up and pushing the stories.

A lot. They just showed their true colors, I doubt if anything has changed in the culture or business practices, shrewd and self-serving.

I don't care for AMD's current "Freedom of choice" Their cards are overpriced and they underperform compared to the competition. It would be nice if they could back up their "motto" or whatever. Nvidia certainly is a bullish business.

Don't forget, it's been the other way around in the past as far as performance goes. The more things change, the more they remain the same. One thing that hasn't changed is the NVidia greed... they made that clear back when SLI showed up.

Well done Kyle, doesn't get much love from the AMD community, but he contiunes to tell it as it is.

Talk of greed is silly, this is a business with investors and shareholders, after all the fuss they will release a new range of cards that will sell like hotcakes and all those AIBs will want a slice of the pie anyway.

Now, I'm off to drink a cold beer.

I agree on the price, but the performance arguments are silly, since they cover every segment up to 1070(Ti) ...

They control MSRP. The market controls the actual selling price.
Perhaps now Nvidia can return their focus to releasing working drivers.

They MAY have Publicly Dropped the GPP program but you can be sure behind locked Doors not much has changed

Wouldn't it be something if the re-structured program turns out to be worse.

I think most people will be looking at Asus to see if they revert Arez back to ROG and MSI putting "Gaming" back on AMD GPU products

It would be ironic and amusing if after the dusts settles it ends with AMD having an exclusive brand.

Now maybe they can also stop pimping mining to Kyle and focus on gamers they care so much about:

A load of bullocks. This entire GPP program and all the vapid accusations in regard to it.

"AMD is an underdog in graphics, so let's hate NVIDIA because it's so cool", right? Not a single piece of reliable information has leaked in regard to GPP, yet suddenly NVIDIA is the worst offender of its market position.

I find those NVIDIA/AMD sub brands (MSI GAMING, ASUS ROG, Gigabyte AURUS, etc.) completely useless for all intends and purposes.

I don't buy GPUs because they are funnily branded. I buy GPUs based solely on their performance (cooling, oc'bility)/price/specs.

I couldn't care less about an additional moniker of the GPU in my computer.

It's a moniker. No one has ever stopped ASUS, MSI, Gigabyte, EVGA, Palit, etc. from creating an additional brand for AMD GPUs. Nothing.

And don't get me started on NVIDIA trying to monopolize the GPU market. They have done nothing akin to what Intel exercised in the AMD K8 days. NVIDIA just wanted to be featured as a brand. Intel actively bribed (in one way or another) OEMs, system integrators and whole sellers, so that they didn't sell AMD CPUs.

It was a bullshit, power tripping, dick move. Plain and simple. You'd have to be a Supreme NV Fanboy to not be able to admit that. They didn't need to do it. It didn't serve any purpose, other than for them to be perceived as power tripping dickhead assholes by doing it. Which they achieved with flawless perfection as a direct result.

Wow, somebody is seriously pissed about their favorite brand actually admitting they tried such heavy handed “marketing.” :p And that they are abandoning it as a failure.

GPP is filed under "corporate secrets." To speak publicly about it is to acknowledge its existence which likely breaches the contract that the AIBs signed up for. It's the AIBs that AMD and Mr. Bennett were talking to and they would only do so off the record. This is standard faire behavior for all shady corporate dealings. USA (whom Mr. Bennett and NVIDIA are both members of) protects the press for the express purpose of exposing dealings like this. Sadly, it doesn't happen enough.
