NVIDIA released a major update to its GeForce Experience app, which significantly changes the user interface (UI). The new GeForce Experience 3.0 is being shipped as a public beta, and is currently not part of an NVIDIA driver installer. Its UI now has two key sections, one which deals with game setting optimization, and the other which lets users access NVIDIA GeForce features such as Ansel, GameStream, driver updates, etc. Perhaps the biggest change here is that having an online account with NVIDIA is no longer optional, if you want to use GeForce Experience.

NVIDIA uses this account to store your game settings and other preferences on the cloud, so they're portable between all your devices, and could be useful if you're a PC enthusiast that frequently changes hardware. On the flip-side, though, GeForce Experience becomes another app that dials home each time you start your PC, impacting start-up speed. The new UI does make things more organized, and labels your games much like a DRM client like Origin or Steam would. You don't need GeForce Experience to use NVIDIA graphics cards, though. The app's install is still optional, and can be unchecked in the "Custom install" screen of the GeForce driver installer.

Well that's a big juicy skidmark right there. I've had enough of these sign-ins that are "for MY convenience". Good news, it is optional so carry on.

LOL! See the walled garden going up.

As long as drivers stay separate. Not a fan of bloatware.

Oh, they mean the same login which NEVER really worked in CURRENT Experience? This crap kept logging me off for no reason until I just stopped bothering with it entirely. NVIDIA may design good hardware, but their software department is absolute garbage and UI designers have to be blind and armless because their stuff is clumsy and broken as hell.

That would explain why using my forehead :banghead: is not very precise!

Didn't they say "Go F yourself" regarding this? Only quarterly updates will be separate is what I recall.

I use Gexp for streaming sometime.
Really simple and shortcut are great (game layer like steam CTRL+Z)

And a login was neeeded for it to work.

so alway sign-in to work is not a big deal

:toast::peace:

So far GFE has only managed to annoy the hell out of me. Shitty UI, clunky as hell and limited in functionality.

That moment you forget to uncheck the box on a driver update... worst event of the day.

Precisely, just as Windows 10 synchronization of various settings, I do NOT want to use same settings on different devices. On my business PC I have localization settings, desktop picture settings and power management settings etc., I will NEVER use on a gaming PC, backup server, laptop, tablet or phone!!!!! Only thing I sync is Favorites and mail accounts.

Nvidia is powned by the trends of today, plain stupid! Why are all sheep running in the same direction? (VR for example, a geeky sidekick like gameboy dancing hardware...)

Geforece Experience is already full of wildgrass. The "Geforce LED" function alone uses 400 MB, that's a lot for a useless feature you show friends one night and goodbye...

these kind of news makes me crazy even though i never installed their shitty bloatware. just stupid move from green.

Huh, well I am not sure yet but this seems to be a decent improvement over the previous (Though the old was ok by me).

They back pedaled on that because of the feedback.

I would be willing to forget most if not all flaws "GeForce Experience" has, if only it supports recording - shadowplay/ any kind of recording for all NVidia cards out there. This way I could use their software for screencast or many other things with the drivers themselves. As it stands now, there is literarily no point in installing it for me.

So they finally implemented the mandatory account. Was only a matter of time. :ohwell:

I'll go create one...

They tried too hard to make it look like Plex for games. Im going to try and avoid installing this for as long as I can and stick with the "old" UI.

I remember sometime ago they were trying to update the shadowplay functionality. I tried the beta as it was more "streamer friendly" and you could "edit" and upload to youtube within the game you were playing. Sounds like a good idea but I HATED the layout. And in order for you to do that, they keyboard shortcut was ALT+Z i think. Which if youre in WoW, that hides your UI and when youre playing an MMO like that and youre worth any salt, youre going to have a multitude of keybinds which makes trying to remap it somewhat of a hassle if not an impossibility.

I wish they would ship the drivers only on a different package and the useless bloatware on another.

I think I'm the only one that doesn't find GFE useless. :ohwell: I use it more to record game play easier than anything.

That's the thing. For just recording GFE asks way too much attention from me but Shadowplay is a good feature on its own. I would much rather use a standalone app for that, and beyond recording GFE is really just for the GPU n00bs. It does everything you can already do outside of it.

But I reckon I'll fall prey to it anyway because I just ordered a SHIELD today. Lel. On that note, I haven't really looked into it, but can you use GameStream without GFE?

guess the next step is geforce experience having in-app ads. buy our stuff, get free ads! *you heard it here first*

but seriously, why waste resources on this just to get some, not even that accurate, usage metric? why not fix bugs instead?

Not AFAIK... That's what required the login in the first place (so random devices can't steal your stream). I don't mind the new UI.

Kinda bummed that the FPS display doesn't work in certain new titles...

Nah, next step is to require a GFE login to get new drivers, and for it to be logged in before you can access any 3D acceleration. always online DRM for GPUS! =)

Don't see any issues with that when your phone does the same thing...? Mind you, I don't and won't use a cell phone.

Personally, I think anyone complaining about having to log in that owns a cell phone is quite hypocritical. But that's just my opinion.

I hate that GFE game optimizations add DSR to my desktop, and that when it does, it negatively affects system performance nearly 100% across the board...

It refuses to work with DOOM, but I think that is an OpenGL issue.
