NVIDIA released its latest version of GeForce software. Version 260.99 installs WHQL-signed drivers for all NVIDIA ION and GeForce GPUs since GeForce 6-series, installs NVIDIA PhysX system software, and drivers for the on-chip HDMI audio device for some GPUs. This version packs increases performance for certain games, fixes certain game-specific bugs, and adds a fresh set of SLI profiles. To begin with, overall performance improvements are brought to Civilization V (SLI), Fallout 3, Final Fantasy XIV and F1 2010 (DirectX 11) compared to GeForce 260.89; SLI profiles (bits of software that optimize the driver to let games make use of multiple GPUs) are added for Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II and Fallout: New Vegas; it improves anti-aliasing compatibility for Fallout: New Vegas. For more details, refer to the Release Notes document (for Windows 7/Vista, Windows XP)

Sweet, have had no problems with previous drivers but updated ones are aways welcome.

I'd complain about just having updated but the new install system is so painless...

Three months for a WHQL driver and now we get two in a week?

Fixed Single-GPU Issues
 Dead Rising 2–improved SLI scaling for the game. [740504]

Wait... what!?

they improved SLI scaling for a single GPU

In the lists of single GPU improvoments says it improves SLI scaling. Thats not single GPU.

The release notes are full of errors. Not surprising since this is more than likely a rush to market driver to fix a few issues with Fallout 3. Just like:

New in Release 260.99

  • Increases performance vs. v260.99 drivers...

Really? So it increases performance vs. itself. Isn't that like dividing by 0?

Geez that was a fast release..

I'll probably stick with the 260.89's until a significant driver release is out.

There's normally a reason why there's one so soon after the other. :P It's prolly bug-related.

Why? Nvidias drivers are awesome to install, if its so close, there might be bugs in the 89s

Wow, when did Nvidia switch this new installer (ability to clean install)?

Haven't ran into any issues with the .89 drivers yet. It also saves me the hassle of installing, as when it comes to driver installs i go the longer route even if Nvidia says i can just install over top of the old. If their next drivers don't come out for a while i will probably install these .99 drivers, but until then i just don't have much of a need moving up especially considering the little to no performance boost in the games i play with this new release.

It came with the 260 series I believe.

And the clean install isn't what we would consider a clean install, it doesn't clean the old drivers, it just resets all the game profiles getting rid of any custom profiles you might have set up in the nVidia control panel.

Yes, it works just like the Catalyst installer now. Way to go Nvidia. I guess they threw in the "clean install" option for those who are too lazy to go into the control panel and uninstall their previous drivers. These drivers are working fine for me so far. No complaints.

Ah, now I understand! ;)

Oh god, that'll be me then!
