OFFICIAL Path of Exile (Discussion)

I've been running my missions either late at night, or early in the morn, and they reset after I do the mission (or fail it: I hate those stupid Zana maps with timers and "Get a Map Drop!")....
I'll have to pay closer attention and see if the inventory resets by itself one day if I don't take any mission...
i am sure dailies reset at 0h gmt for eu. never paid attention for master inventories. i am only sure zana's get reset if you succeed with her mission. it doesnt reset if you fail mission or if you skip doing daily.

Speaking of Dailies for the Masters. I've got 2 of mine at lvl 8, but as I understand it, their inventories reset whether you complete the mission successfully or not. Is there any point to doing dailies for a max level master? Or do you just accept it, abandon, and recheck the inventory for Quality gems and Unique gear?
There's a nice chunk of XP to be gained for doing essentially easy level 76-77 maps. Plus, Vagan is a neat test of your defenses ;)
But if you have better things to do, accepting and abandoning is also an option.

Edit: mission reset automatically at 0GMT, master's inventories reset after finishing a mission (regardless of the outcome).

Congrats, looks nice!!
it is indeed
but i still need better gear for the ranger.
barely made full clear on t5 rare map with reasonably good mods. if it was a bit worse i woudnt make it.
then t1 magic was pain in the arse too.
2.6k hp is no good for mapping for sure.

gotta agree there....

Rangers (if going for evasion) are possibly the squishiest toons in PoE. Evasion means no actual physical damage mitigation when you do get hit and you don't cope too well with spells either. You need Acrobatics (and possibly Phase Acrobatics when mapping - idk, I haven't got that far with mine). And I'd say at minimum 4k life, which another tough nut to crack for a ranger.

That said, my favourite damage mitigation technique is summon skeletons. Link it with spell totem and minion life and resists if you can afford and you've got yourself a rather sturdy meat shield. It works even better for a ranger, because you'd be hiding behind your skeletons by default ;)
Another trick (that I've only read about) is to use frost wall with cdwt.
Other than that, Pathfinder is supposedly very good at staying alive because they always have their flasks full, but I suspect that only works in conjunction with other damage mitigation tricks.
Oh and lest I forget, check your life leeching skills. Since rangers are really, really quick, you may be better off with LGoH or poacher's mark rather than % life leech.

And my luck for the day: I man up to try the eternal labyrinth, get past the first Izaro fight, have two NDEs only to be handed a crash to desktop. Yay me, it's not like I have an endless supply of offerings :(

3.2 patch notes out here, but I'm not sure what to make of this line:

Ascendancy Rebalance
  • All 19 Ascendancies have been reviewed and undergone extensive changes. As a result of these changes, many existing Ascendancy and Passive Skill trees will be reset.

I assume that if only some people get full resets, the rest will be cranked off. I know I would. There's only one notice of a "reset" in the notes at all.
I do like some of their harder-hitting bug changes....

  • Fixed a bug which caused the Scion to not splash as frequently as other characters as she ran through water
  • Fixed a bug which caused the Elder's tentacles to change colour based on the player's proximity to them.

heheh this one is nice :)
  • Fixed a bug where Fairgraves would attack you during his dialogue.

It's possible they don't give you a reset if you didn't actually use any of the changed node, but they never did that in the past, iirc.
In other news, after getting my rear handed to me in the Uber Lab while using a char that's supposedly a Uber Lab farmer (Sunder Slayer), I've decided I've had enough. At least for a while.

Well, that sucks man. I know what you feel about the frustration. Hope you can find something to distractr for a while, then come back and check out the Beast Mode soon :)

This time I may be done for good. I'm up for a challenge, but I feel this game consistently ends in bursts of damage that rip you to pieces before you can move your eyes to the upper left corner to see what ailment did you in. That is seriously NOT fun when it costs you 10% XP per attempt while at the same time you only get to grind maybe 2-3% XP per day.
I've quit before and came back for the Atlas, so who knows?

Won't argue... getting snagged with an elemental thorn drives me nuts... I think that's why so many people play leagues, so they're not stuck working a single character up so high, and so much to lose in a single death. I'm still low enough that a death or two is not devastating, but even where I am, it's annoying to see that sudden popup on the screen before you have a chance to even realize what's happening, much less respond....

Ha, thorns I can manage. There's whole new level of toon rape awaiting if you get past thorns. Like monster appears, attacks you once, you go from 5k+ to 0 HP in under 0.1s.
I just can't afford trying again and again using various flasks until I figure out what type of damage I'm supposed to defend against.

Edit: I forgot: on top of those, there are fights that you can theoretically handle, but there's so much going on on the screen, it's almost impossible to see what's going on. Frost and storm bearers used to kill you simply because you didn't see the ground effects. But that's mostly been taken care of, the ground events are more conspicuous now. There's also the fight against the two Vaal Overlords leading to Atziri. You can take on a Vaal Overlord without much difficulty, but in that particular fight there are so many effects on screen, one of them managed to slam me to death. And the slam is telephoned :(

I very much prefer the boss fights in TQ. Specific mechanics for each one, bosses that had no problem biting your head off (literally) if you simply charged them. And yet with preparation, timing and care, each one could be overcome. PoE looks like a combination of click-fest, defense-check and damage-check in comparison.
Eh, I'm just being bitter now, because it seems I've found my limits. But PoE has given me more enjoyable hours than any other title since I got into the open beta.

I have a question. I completed each of the labyrinth trials and now it allowed me to unlock the Lord's Labyrinth. At the Sarn camp I activated the doorway to Lord's Labyrinth and can cross over but it tells me I have not completed any of the trials and I cannot access them. I also noticed that above the doorway from the Sarn camp to the Lord's Labyrinth I do not see any of the trials lit up on the stone to show I completed them. What am I missing?

I know for a fact I completed all of them once already.

Wiki is your friend (bookmark it), there are other trials to overcome: https://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/The_Lord's_Labyrinth

I looked at that stuff yesterday and I still do not quite grasp what more I need to do. The Lord's Labyrinth is the trials within that gate in the SARN camp right? I did all the trials up to this point that I know of.

Each time I would find a labyrinth trial I would pass through it and the stone at the end would show which one I completed by lighting up one of six circles on it. The last one I completed showed all of the circles were lit up as completed. The quest then told me to go to the Sarn camp for the final trial...the stone dealio lifted up to show a portal. But now it shows that I have not completed any trials.

I dunno. I looked at the wiki but I just don't see what I missed.

So I read through the wiki again.

After completing the first six Trials of Ascendancy, the player can enter the Aspirant's Plaza through the Statue of the Goddess in the Sarn Encampment. The plaza has a waypoint that can be accessed from any act (it appears next to the hideout icon). The Plaza is where the player chooses which labyrinth to enter.

[I did this. I completed the first six trials of Ascendancy Now I can enter Aspirants Plaza but once in I cannot do the first Labyrinth because it says I have not completed the six trials of Ascendancy. How is that possible if I am now in the Plaza? I can't get into the plaza until I complete those first six trials. I just don't get it.]

The Labyrinth must be completed in one run without dying.

  • The Labyrinth can be attempted as many times as desired.
  • There are no waypoints. Upon death, players must resurrect in town and the current Labyrinth ends. Disconnecting, logging out, or exiting the game also ends the current Labyrinth. The Player will resurrect in the town of the act they came from.
  • Players may not use town portals, except to leave. When using a portal, a warning message will confirm the choice to abandon the current Labyrinth. This portal will take the player to the Act 3 town, regardless of where it was entered.
  • Any keys found must be used in the current Labyrinth. Like quest items, keys cannot be traded or moved to a stash. Unused keys will be dropped (destroyed) when leaving the Labyrinth.
  • The stash is accessible before each encounter with Izaro, and in the Ascendancy Chamber.
Variations
The Labyrinth
Monster Level: 33

The first Labyrinth requires six trials: one in Act 1, two in Act 2, and three in Act 3. While the layout changes every day, some things are constant. The first room is always a Forgotten Reliquary and there is only one path through it to the first Izaro fight. The second room can lead directly to Izaro, but there is an optional room too. The path to the final fight always has two rooms. The final fight takes place with no traps and there is a limited number of mechanics.

Completing the Labyrinth gives a choice of Ascendancy Class, 2 Ascendancy Points, and the chance to add an implicit modifier to a pair of gloves.

Sorry I can't help here, WhiteNoise. I've only gone thru 2 or 3 of the labyrinth's so far. I just finished my 6th trial a couple of days ago, so I've finished all 6 once anyway, but not sure what to process next to get in either :(

if the char you have complete the trails and your current char are in different leagues you need to do it again with current char

My two characters are in the same league. Abyss. Though I suppose that league ended today? I plan to run through each trial again and see what happens but I honestly think this is a bug or something. A character does not gain access to this plaza without first completing the trials. So I have completed them if I can go to the plaza. This is screwed up.

That may be the issue. The Abyss league ended 4 days ago, but they weren't supposed to merge stuff like Hideouts, Atlas progress, etc until today. You may be able to login and everything is fine tonite :) Good Luck!!

That is what it was. Now when I log in Im in standard league and the plaza is working.

Glad to hear :) I really didn't do much in the league except gathered too much stuff for my bank space :) I knew stuff hadn't merged yet, but once you said your toons were all Abyss league, I thought that had to be it :)
They've allowed a skill reset for my ranger, which was what I really wanted, so while I'm chewing thru the beast mode, I get to think about how to rework her :) Altho a gear tweak this past week made a big difference in my damage, so I'm not nearly as aggravated at my build now heheh

Ok, noob question. I've shaped my first map: Beach. Where will I have a better chance of dropping the new Beach Map? re-running my T1 beaches? other T1s? the 2 T2s right next to beach? or T5 and T6 maps?
