The gigantic 8800GTX may have some serious trouble fitting in some cases, being a whopping 28 centimeters long. In comparison, the ATI X1900XTX is "only" 23.5 centimeters long. The NVIDIA 8800GTS is shorter, at 24 centimeters, and only requires one power plug. Both cards have their power plug(s) at the top of the card, and have coolers that are 4 centimeters thick.

Guess this will give owners of these cards bragging rights about how well endowed their new e-penis video card is :p

28 cm is rediculously long.
They really have to look into shrinking the cards and the amount of power they use

Damn. I want to pick up a GTX whenever they're released but I'm not sure it'll fit. The X1900 barely fits in my case (P180) as it is. 4.5 cm longer might be running into the hard drives...

As I have heard around...
Sooner or later they are going to either have to lower the size of the GPU or we are going to need full tower cases.

What a monstrous card...

completely agree with you :toast:

lol this is funny, I can fit a 12in card in my Matx Case becuase the HD Bays are in a different place, and People with (Much) larger cases than mine cant fit it.

Enjoy shelling out the money for it then...

i've tried googling it, but don't get good results. what are the dimensions on the 7900gto/x ? i'm gonna measure mine when i get home, cuz that was a tight fit! and i plan on gettting one fo these two

What irony...everybody will rush to get a GTX when at the beginning at least, the GTO will probably be made using the same core.....thus, likely unlockable.

i dont matter to me but it will fit in my ultra 4-bay case but i will have to take out the bottom hdd holder which ultra made removable hmmm its like they planned ahead  but then again it is a full tower case about the same as the aluminus series nut the hdd bays are turned diff

Maybe some people will learn loving PCIe 2.0 now. Will remove the need for power cables for gfx cards as PCIe 2.0 is designed to feed those monsters over the bus :D

it will work for a while but it will eventually get overpowered sry but thats just how things work remeber agp 2.0 it was made to supply power over the bus as no need for external but it was replaced b/c hte cards needed more than that plus that just overloads the mobo powerconnections so its a stupid ideea for ppl who oc the hell outta both cause it means a voltmod is needed out of the box to get good stable performance

holy crap! i thought computers and computer parts were getting SMALLER! :p

I will not be paying for it, at least not more than 150$, My friend is buying my 7800GT for $220 and I am buying an eVGA 7900GTO for $250 and will step up to the 8800GT in 90 Days for $150 more. :toast:

Ya gotta know how to work the system man. :)

I rather wait for a loverly X2800 then XD

well if I did end up buying this monster, I wont mind shelling out more for a new case... whats an extra $150 on top of the monstrous price of this card. My matrix case is only gonna cost me $55 keeping it cheap, and small.

Maybe they'll invent flexible graphics cards that can be bent to the shape of your case soon? :D

i think in the future gpu will be were cpu is at, graphics ddr where cpu ddr is, and cpu and ram card, where gfx card is :o

Theyll end up ditching the pcp board or w/e and just do it like they do cpus or do it like they plan on doing it late 2008 with merging the cpu and gpu.

thats stupid cause if you break one you have to replace both:shadedshu
