if this works ill be so happy

hopefully its similar to the change in audio quality that kX had to the old audigys

i think its a bit better than the default drivers, but their working well (as in stable) so theres no reason to roll back
but it just goes to show how an old 6 year old dedicated audigy mp3+ with third party drivers can make modern "HD" integrated look like crap

i do admit that stairway to heaven sounds noticeably better though ^^

As its bought up, yes I have had crashes, but they are not anything to do with the realtek drivers I have run the system for hours on end at stock with no problems and OCd now, I'm slowly getting to the bottom of my issues which are pointing to ward my PSU or CPU. I know, both the most unlikely of candidates but its deffinately one of those.

You'll notice ket has provided the drivers and let other people make their own deicisions as to what they improve. i havent seen him going around telling people how awesome they are - he lets the drivers speak for themselves.

I've used these drivers once only on my GF's Dad's system. Very noticeable difference but didn't feel the need to use the bloated Creative software, hell I don't even use them on a Creative card!! Very nice work Ketxxx has done with this driver but I wish there was something for my Soundmax codec on my board I guess I'll just have to buy a Forte. Props to you Ketxxx and your excellent work, and a good guy overall

Silly question: other than bulk replacing "HD" and "High Definition Audio" with "X-Fi" in the inf files... what exactly is being modified here? (simple binary diff between the modified drivers and original drivers from Realtek indicate this)

Is this purely to fool Creative's software into running on a RealTek chip? (BTW, Creative audio console runs perfectly well on Vista X64... if an actual X-Fi is installed. Wouldn't know about the rest of their software, but the console does indeed run)

Edit: I'm referring to the audio console from CT's site, NOT the MB drivers from *this* site.

Outside of what I was told by kain, I'm not sure what the driver handles differently. I'm assuming it handles various things significantly differently as the modded driver install is 60MB vs. a vanilla 5MB or so. I would think the modded drivers enable some kind of internal software filter which is responsible for the better audio quality. Something I recently noticed is EAX2.0 implementation, its not half broken anymore like people complain about with Realtek chips it works properly now, I noticed it in Bioshock.

i dont know if this has been posted yet but daniel_K modded the x-fi md drivers to work with realtek and via hd. seems like a pretty good size file might be worth trying.
