What version did you use?

I got the same chip on a Gigabyte 965P-DQ6:

Onboard Realtek ALC888 DD chip
Supports High Definition Audio
Supports 2 / 4 / 6 / 8 channel audio
Supports DTS (dts NEO : PC) function
Supports Dolby Digital Live
Supports S/PDIF In/Out connection
Supports CD In connection

Edit: What's best for uncompressing a ".7Z" file? Edit2: Nevermind...

Should the craptive software recognize these drivers? I hae them installed but when i try to install anything craptive it says no xi-fi :(

I really need an equalizer to turn the bass down on my speakers (there's no inbuilt control) and with vista 64 there isn't an equalizer anywhere to be seen, these drivers or realteks :(

reeeeeaaaad the threeeeeeeeaaaad.

FINALLY! Somebody else who is beginning to see the repetativeness of the questions people always ask me :D

I just wanna give a big thanks to you Ketxxx for these x-fi drivers. I was working on a guys system last night and noticed the "usual" realtek garbel on his system, which is used for sound editing and recording. I tried updating to the newest Realtek HD drivers that would clean it up a little but every now and then I would still here garbage. Tried your newest HD x-fi modded drivers and it solved the issue. We recorded a little last night and they just made everything AWESOME!!! Thanks again for these drivers! :toast:

There will be more drivers soon, I may mod the 2.2s later today.

I've had it in my subscriptions since the first page and read it. i'll re-read again

its said a million times over: the software does not and will not work in anything thats not XP32.

Ket: add something to the first post. perhaps right at the top. "software does not work. only drivers"

Thanks - I asked a while ago if they worked with vista x64 - Ket said that the drivers did, but the creative software didn't.
Sorry - I should have asked if it was working yet or when there was going to be an Eq in the x64 drivers

It's not the creative software im interested in, just an EQ for vista 64.

So WTF is the difference between the driver versions??? Are they updates from Creative or Realtek and do they apply to specific Realtek codecs?

realtek updates their drivers. ket mods the new ones. Read the thread for more.

So given I have a codec that's 2 years old, I probably won't benefit from any of the newer ones?

No not true, you still may benefit.

two questions because i am new to this and just found out about it.

one does this work with any azalia based audio chipset besides the realtek one? for instance would this driver work for a VIA VT1708S?

Second I know the software is only for a trial but my question is, is there a reason to use it? do you have to use the software to get the EAX 4.0 and to get the X-Fi Crystalizer?

sorry if i asked anything thats already been asked.

the software is what gives EAX support. then again, you can always google for alchemy universal which does the same thing.

No idea on via support - feel free to test and let us know.

i would test it but i don't have that chipset on my motherboard but the motherboard I am looking at buying does, so I was wondering if it worked because I thought if it did i could sell my sound card and use these drivers and that would be good enough for me.

thanks for the other info. so the crystalizer works with no software?

the crystaliser is part of the software. it does not work.

2.18 not working for me on Vista 64, ALC888S from Asus OEM motherboard IPIBL-LB. Installs fine, but then windows cant find an audio device. In device manager, there is an exclamation mark beside the realtek X-Fi device:

Code:
Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)

Click 'Check for solutions' to send data about this device to Microsoft and to see if there is a solution available.

Anyone have an idea of what I can do to fix this?

EDIT: OK so I fixed it, this is how. When booting up i pressed F8 to get to the bootloader menu. I disabled digital signatures. I'll have to do this every boot :(

I'm not sure if I notice any difference between theses 2.18 and the original realtek 2.20 drivers. Can someone tell me what I should be looking for? Are there any addition features or improvements? I have good speakers Logitech Z-5500 but again, I'm not sure if I can hear a difference yet. Thanks for the drivers, it is an interesting development nonetheless.

I would love to see the ability to do Dolby digital live and/or DTS connect with my realtek hardware!

How are they connected seriousClown? If they are connected through Optical like I'm assuming they are, then sound card drivers will never make a difference because the purpose of Optical is to let the Z-5500's decoder do the work, and the sound card simply passes it along to your speaker decoder.

I have both, but I only use the 6 channel direct analog connections.

It would be good to see in the first post what SPECIFIC differences one should notice from these drivers. What exactly has been added/modified.

So if you can't install the Creative software, is there any point in using these modded drivers?

realtek 2.21 driver release

6. Add/Fix
1.) Driver :
1. Customizations.
2. Support ALC275.

My DTS has been working with the normal drivers. Through spdif, using ac3filter set to passthrough. :D

When speaking of DTS and dolby digital, always double check whether people are talking about encoding, decoding, or passthrough.

General message to avoid confusion, since every card with SPDIF out should always have passthrough for any digital signal.
