So I caught our first hacker. At least the first one to get caught anyway.
His name is [GENERAL] Pfannkuchen He had a buddy with him but his buddy took off once I accused him and I failed to get his name. His buddy's name started with [SARGANT] (spelled wrong I know)
Anyways...
I was in my base. Ive noticed that a lot of new players tend to spawn right around it.
So anyways...I was in my base, 2nd level behind around 8 metal doors and I was crafting away. I decided to go to the kitchen for a drink and taked to the wife for 5 minutes.
When I came back I was dead and the screen said [GENERAL] killed you with a stone hatchet to the body.
I took a screenshot and then chose to spawn in my base. It spawned me about a mile away. When I got back to my base all the walls were intact. All the metal doors were good but when I went to the main room in my base my sleeping bag was gone.
Nothing else was taken...my chicken was still roasting over the fire, all my resources, weapons ammo everything was still there.
At first I thought I got hacked but then why not take a bunch of my stuff?
The guy was claiming he didn't kill me so I sent him the screenshot and he refused to talk to me after that. Just ignored me. I looked up his steam account and he had one vac ban on file that was over 200+ days old.
Anyways I decided to monitor him. I put my admin armor on and teleported to him. It spawned me in his base and as soon as I spawned I heard the door open and close as he left the room. he ran a few steps then logged out of the game. He hasn't been back yet. I was invisible so he couldnt have known I was there unless he was hacking. (though even with admin armor if you are close to me you will see my name) I actually like that because it keeps admin honest. Oh and you can hear invisible admin walking as well as animals and zeds will give chase.
I later found out on RUST forums that these guys do this all the time. Usually just to get your armor and ignore a lot of your other stuff if not everything. I did have almost a complete set of kevlar. I just needed the boots.
So afterwards I banned his steamID so I hope that works.
His base was quite big for someone that only just logged into the server for the first time about an hour before I teleported to him. He had c4 and other weapons. I used his c4 to bust out of his base and then went back to mine.
If you guys see anything strange going on let me know. This is the first time while playing on our server that I've seen someone do something strange enough to make me put on my admin armor and track him. I hope I don't have to do it again.
