As a classic movie aficionado...I'd add movies to this list. They've been rehashing them for decades. When I recently saw a Rebecca remake...I wanted to cry.

They took perfection...and spit on it.

If you've seen Rebecca, but you're in the mood to watch something...I've always been a fan of The Dark Corner. A detective flick with a young Lucille Ball...how can you go wrong? Not to mention, a small part is played by Clifton Webb, one of my personal favorites.

Please indulge me to recommend one more, because I can sense there are probably a few out there who might just prefer a horror flick. This is an excellent classic, not really a horror movie per se, but., I will warn you....whatever you do, don't go into the woods and look for...

I really wish this release on 11.11.21 was The Elder Scrolls 6, or as I mentioned in my previous post...The Elder Scrolls 7. I understand the 5th in the series was a great success(I have over a 1000 hours into it), but it's just hard for me to comprehend why they'd continue milking this title for 10 years? Give the poor cow a break. It's stunning really, I guess I'm just shocked that they've done this. I was hoping something new would be coming and frankly...I'm now concerned that I might not live long enough to actually see the release of Elder Scrolls 6.

I guess what I'm trying to express here is...severe disappointment.

I am not surprised they have the gall to ask for money without adding any substantial effort from their part. Re-packaged mods included, really?! That's it?

Cool it's a physical copy of the game. I simply expected more, I doubt there is any actual studio involvement, you can easily outsource this kind of release and slap a few logos on it.

Just like most of you have already stated how you feel about this, my sentiments are about the same. I've mentioned this countless times, I don't have much hope for the next TES being any more modding friendly than the predecessors, seeing as how "Starfield" will keep using their tried and true "Creation Engine" (The dev kit is quite easy to understand and work with, but the underlying engine... I have spent my words on how many things look wrong) which, underneath for all intents and purposes is a tweaked version of NetImmerse with 3rd party software tacked on, and still end up being an un-optimized mess after all these years.

I'm getting tired of being treated with the typical "Bethesda experience". I think TES needs to go back closer to its roots and finally do something about the rendering and read/write op performance.

All they're doing is putting more fuel on the fire, and peeps will keep making memes on how much of a laughing matter this has become.

At least I can be thankful that people who tried Skyrim eventually dipped their toes into trying Morrowind and Daggerfall when they felt adventurous enough. OpenMW and Daggerfall Unity are more than viable to play and provide an overall better experience than the original releases.

You mean a better and updated version of the current Skyrim VR? Considering one "exists".

Then again I haven't spent significant amount of time in VR on the game ever since I upgraded the main monitor. It felt like a gimmick all along, combat is very "floaty" and I think that's the best that can be done on current gen VR hardware.

But yeah, they could have to some degree made a combo of both games, just include the needed assets/executables to run both versions. They never bothered, due to incompatibility unless they mess around more to separate the assets required to run either version without the game bugging out.

If you mean the ESP-FE format, yes that is SADLY missing and they never added it in Skyrim VR because they based it off an earlier version of Fallout 4/Skyrim SE's source code. You still can't side-load ESL marked plugins to get around the hard 254 limit.

Still. Mod merging exists, which I still take full advantage of even on SE, so I am not too peeved about them excluding ESL support in VR. It's a mere convenience to have ESL, but this limit should have been mitigated earlier before it became an issue and got only addressed after the Creation Club updates which endorsed mods so they finally got their hands dirty.

To add, due to personal reasons/vendetta (I mean even I'm salty at BGS, but c'mon), some modders will refuse to support VR versions, but that's another topic.

It makes one think, if they need something this small of an issue to add simple additional plugin support, why haven't there been more general stability improvements. (When there are very clear and serious flaws in the reverse engineered "spaghetti" code that you would think a seasoned programmer would notice) :confused: A question that will never be answered.

I wish there was a definitive "Anniversary update" that gives the game a bit of life and takes notes from the engine patchwork done by other mod authors. But that's a fool's dream, there won't be one like that, looking at the current statements.

Don't be silly Todd Howard already answered it by saying it "Just Works" LOL

I won't be paying for it that's for sure as I've never bothered with creation club rubbish I get all my mods from the Nexus and will continue to do so as long as it's a supported game there just like I do for FO4 and CP2077. If they give it away to previous owners of SE Legendary edition I might think about grabbing it but if they continue to want money for it then there's no way in hell
 
Since the community fixed so many flaws and bugs for the first Skyrim version, they should at least giveaway for free any updates version to whoever bought the Legendary version. But milking is the new trend now-a-days...

But anyway ot, I don't think i will bother with this tbh, i kinda prefer oblivion or morrowind, even though they are a bit old now.
 
I would only buy this version if they somehow magically get their shit together and bring out some bugfixes.
I don't give two fucks about the paid modder content (there are like three mods ion that package that I kind of like, but that's it).
 
I wanted to leave a snarky comment about milking a dead cow, but I just realized I have no less then seven releases of Fallout 2, so I'll just go hide in Broken Hills.

I really like Skyrim, TES is my second favorite game series, but this re- cycle really is a meme nowadays.
 
Shows the deficit in creativity today with PC gaming. Too many distractions in the artistic crowds life discourages originality.
 
No thanks. I beat this game years ago. Put over 200 hours into it. Awesome game back then and I totally enjoyed it. Now I'll wait for a new ES game to play with a 6 on the end of it.
 
200? I have 850 on the record on the Original Skyrim and I pretty much didn't do but the beginning of the main quest, lol.
 
See... initially I had my Skyrim still counting time. For 387 hours, I had the achievements mod to work with the script extensions. At some point in the modding, that just stopped working and I never bothered to troubleshoot it. So steam doesn't log achievements or play time. Steam says I'm cheating. I say I'm winning... the experience. :D

If we go by Fallout 4, which does still log... that's 2073.73 hours. And I haven't been playing it as long. I think Skyrim is the better game. I play FO4 when I wanna mod but I'm tired of Skyrim. I don't know as much about it as I do Skyrim. I first played THAT on PS3. Girlfriend introduced me to it and told me she had enjoyed our time together. Secretly she just wanted to play WoW. Skyrim was a good choice. We'd kill whole weekends sitting next to each other playing those games, making those midnight trips to the gas stations for quick junk because we are obsessed and our bodies are simply burdens to us :laugh:

So it was hundreds of hours back then. And then I built a new PC and got into modding, so...

That's exactly why I'm NOT buying this lol. Why would I do that? What's it got for me other than modding headaches? I mod the crap out of special edition, specifically. There are very few improvements they would be likely to make that would have much of any appeal to me. Historically, new versions mess with mods, if they change anything. Memory-related... but sometimes pathing shifts, or a table gets changed around... or the way textures/meshes get called and stored changes. And beyond that it's the same jeezlus game.

I will say, we have a kid at work who's like 19 that just picked it up for the first time. It has that place in gaming culture, where people still consider it relevant. Rare for games that old. Meaning if they pack it up in a re-release, people like him will buy it. I suppose it's about visibility. People all know Skyrim exists. But people on the outskirts might not take an interest on that alone. Roll out a new release, maybe that hits them on a day when they're curious... and they buy it. Easy way for them to drum up sales. They gotta know the core base isn't jumping on this. Most of us left playing are modding, ergo we don't care.

Their thinking... at least partially has got to be having as many people with ES5 on their minds when they DO actually begin to rollout ES6 for real. I'm sure it's for the same reason that they support creators on ES5. The cheapest way to keep people talking would be a re-release. Get some extra sales, keep the name from rubbing off of the lexicon. Easier if you have a bunch of people who bought and played the last one just a couple of years ago.

Remember, it won't matter if it sucks when it drops. What matters is that enough people are caring about and talking about it to buy it. Time corrodes that quite robustly. Stopgaps are needed. Thing is, you have a crowd with intense, highly fractalized and crytalline interests in the main titles. The stopgaps aren't enough. But by the same token, they'll probably buy and play the actual new title anyway. If another chunk of people buy this one, they might buy the next one. That's something they might look at.

But you know? Sometimes I think Bethesda really is so deluded that they see their base as rabid freaks who buy everything with a certain brand on it. They may not be totally wrong, either. That would be unfortunate, as their expectations for how events will transpire doesn't match-up with their choices a lot of the time... they leave you wondering "How could they think this would be okay?"

Obviously, tons of levels to it. When the time beween releases is this long it becomes like the physics inside of a black hole. Anything could happen. But I see the rationale. I think it's dumb. It's a dumb situation. But I get it, sort of.

Bingo right there with you on that. there's just way to much they'd have to do to even get me interested in buying it and just adding 500 mods from the Creation Club is not what I'd be looking for

To me, the CC is what they're all about... like, in almost everything they do. I never liked the CC stuff. I don't see the benefit to me, I see it as the antecedent to what the modding community that supplies an abundance of stuff, the very thing I used to make the games worthwhile, already does for free. I wish they would stop trying to monetize modding... realize that it's ALWAYS been money for them. Holy crap man, I don't think I could confidently buy one of their games knowing it wasn't going to be fully moddable. And that all revolves around what are at this point, ancient entities... highly evolved and far-reaching communities. You don't have that with a paid mod system. It exists outside of that zeitgeist. Or more, it cannot house that zeitgeist. You don't get good, refined mods unless everyone can just participate and pass their ideas around. You also can't sustain that sort of ecosystem without wide and easy accessibility. It has to be easy for people to experiment or there won't even be enough regular users to hold it up for years and years. Over time, communities form through these things and new possibilities open up, as knowledge becomes more consistent and centralized. It's absolutely vital and everything done to pull mods away from that is ultimately detrimental.

Really what I'm saying here, is I wish they'd get someone on leadership that could better contextualize the modding aspect of their games for them, get them to see that the biggest value isn't in direct monetization of the mods. If they focused on making their games easier to mod, that would go a long way for them. But they don't. In many ways, it only gets harder as the engines age up and the pile-ons accumulate. FO4 is a perfect example. Ask an experienced modder which they'd rather tinker with between that and Skyrim. I can only say, things that were straightforward in Skyrim became more complex in FO4. But in general, I don't see forethought into the modding aspect at all. They just pass out the tools and say "Have fun." This is utterly psychotic to me. I know it doesn't stick out to other people, but how crazy is it that one of the biggest appeals for their games goes largely ignored in development and only gets grabbed by marketing paid mods? It really is backwards to me. These games are not *actually* made with modding in mind. Not from what I can see. They just don't glue things down. How is it that they get to marketing mods for sale, in a game that's not really made for them and plays terribly with a lot of them? Again, this does not add value for me. It makes me pay a premium for something that would just be more widespread (working mods) if they instead focused on making the game better on mods. Consider what modders do... you have freaking hundreds of thousands if not millions of people going in-depth to draw from. Use that to inform decisions regarding changes to the engine. Consider the issues and limitations when it comes to the tools. You don't get to turn around and charge me money for the ones you think work pretty good in your crap engine where everyone is throwing darts :laugh:

For real though! That's just not how modding works. If anything, focusing on the paid pipeline would be death by gradual constriction. It'd choke off its own supply.

We're talking about Todd Howard here he'll never not monetize the shit out of every game he can because it's no longer about the player it's about the shareholder
 
I mean Skyrim is a great game and I'm sure there's some gems from the creation club being added.... but at some point consumers gotta stop rewarding this laziness.

I thought it was a free upgrade for those who already own the previous legendary edition or w.e it was called.
 
Probably my favorite game of all time, and the single player game i spent more hours in by very far.

Is this the time they finally remove the bugs. I played it for the 1st time (i know!) 4 years ago, and i was finding bugs, searching the net and resolving them with tips from 2011, 2012.
