Specs:
Mobo: Gigabyte 965P-DS3P
CPU: Intel C2D E4300 @ 1.8Ghz, OC to 3.0Ghz
CPU Cooler: Thermaltake Big Typhoon VX (replaced stock fan with b-cool 120)
Memory: 4 x 512MB Corsair Twin2X 5400C4
Video: Gigabyte 7600GT Silent Pipe
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 320GB 7,200
DVD: ASUS Light scribe
PSU: Hyper Type-R 580W
Screens: Samsung 226BW & Optima DLP Projector
Sound Systems : Technics Stereo Amp & Dennon AVR 3300 (5.1 & DTS)
Accessories: Coolermaster & Zalman Fan controllers
Case: Antec 900

Mods:
Installed additional fans, sleeved cables, a little cable management. It’s still not how I want it to be but considering I have 6 fans and 2 fan controllers it’s not too bad). Next on the list is to cut holes to route cables better, cut hole for PSU and invert, replace CPU Cooler with a 120 Extreme, and I am also thinking of replacing both Fan controllers with an Aerogate II. Once I get the opportunity to strip the case (I may have to buy another case for my gear to live in the meantime) and improve cable management I also plan to hit it with a coat of paint. My biggest ever mod (if you can call it that) is my car simulator. I scratch built it 7 years ago and it sat unused for many years. It’s fitted with its own sound system and seat shaker. I recently replaced the steering with a Logitech Momo wheel.

I am a long time reader of this forum and this is my first post (so go easy on me:)). She’s not the quickest beast going around but it serves a great purpose. My PC is connected into my Theater room and to my home made car simulator. As my projector can only display max res of 1024x768 I don’t need heaps of video power (the 7600GT works perfectly even with detail settings turned up). Having said that playing V8 Supercar3 on an 84” Screen is very cool. Constructive suggestions are welcomed

nice racing cockpit!
Thanks for the feedback.
It took me ages to research it and come up with my own design.
I have wasted many hours flying around race tracks in that thing, it's a heap of fun

Hi Wile,
The racing cockpit is constructed from MDF mainly 18mm. The cockpit is designed to split in 2 to make it easier to store. The base is fitted with HD fixed casters.
The hardest part was finding a good seat. Once I settled on the standard fiberglass racing seat I was then able to design the entire cockpit around it.

Thanks,

It's not as heavy as it looks. The reason for the side cut outs was to reduce weight and the unit splits in 2. I can easily lift both the base and the nose on my own and moving the base is made even easier with the use of casters.

ROFLMAO.

When I first read your feedback I absolutely cracked up.

But you know what it's not a bad idea. I already have mains power wired into the cockpit so adding lights and other accessories is piss easy.

Anyone else got any further mod suggestions for my cockpit. What other goodies apart from neon lights under the cockpit would you add?

Now there is a cracking idea :)
I imagine it would cost me a heap as I would need 2 video cards.
Having said that I cam across a site on the weekend that makes custom gauges and controls setups for racing cockpits.

All I will say is, WATCH THIS SPACE :)
