I’m pretty sure it IS the topic. Ford said Steam broke the ability for Indie games to be seen and oeople are throwing out solutions, but you’ve got a site in GOG that has NOT broken Indie visibility.

Well, in general, you're not going to GOG for AAA games (unless TW series or CP) so they stand a pretty good chance of getting bought there.

It's a fair amount, but nothing like Steam.

Well, it's called Good Old Games for a reason and I like good old games so I'm good with GOG just the way they are. A few relatively newer AAA games find there way onto GOG but because GOG is strictly DRM-free you won't find a lot.

I know people find games via other methods, but I never use Steams recommendation system. It has always been extremely awful, even the search results. Everything is done via generic tags and not an actual human who has any knowledge of a game genre and what game qualifies for it.

For example I just typed in "flight sim" in the search results. The first results are city builders, an anime girl thing, some extremely amateur flight games, space RPGs. Out of the first 20 search results I see two actual flight simulators. Page two is more of the same. The first page does have two popular flight sims (FSX and Rise of Flight) but you have to go a few pages in to find anything related to DCS and IL-2, which are probably the most popular flight sims in terms of current day sales. The fact anime games get priority over those two is absolutely absurd.

I never find games on Steam, it is always via a website like this, friends or some game news source.

Without reading any posts past the first one, the only thoughts I have is "Hell yea!". Based on what I've seen over the years, vast majority of the indie games are total and utter garbage.

And the people that enjoy them would take issue with that statement. One person's garbage is another person's treasure... For example, many think Mighty No9 was garbage. I enjoyed it greatly!
