Hey guys! Im not sure if any of you remember, i havnt been on these forums forever. If this sparks your mind at all, i was the developer of that quake style FPS Engine.

http://techpowerup.com/forums/showthread.php?t=88124

Well, im back with more and more experience and wow have my skills gotten much better. Now, the reason why i am posting this is because im asking my fellow TPU users what kind of games do they want to see on the Xbox live indie game marketplace? Now that im done learning everything i can about programming and game dev, its time for me to take it to the next level and create a game. I've been doing 2d and 3d programming now for about 3 years. So do you guys have any ideas? Any genre suggestions?

My Ideas:

  • Sandbox game(Like garrysmod, multiplayer)

  • Zombie game(Nazi zombie kinda thing, multiplayer)

  • Fort defense(1st person multiplayer fort defense)

  • Space exploration and build game(Build ships flys to space, fight, mine, etc)

Hope you guys can give me some suggestions... and thanks!

Like said in your past thread, a TPU game!
Working your way through a virtual-TPU office floor; where you have to avoid being spanked by bansticks, BFG VGA cards are being use as thrown weapons; and at the end of the game you have to fight the evil W1zzard who has playing evil April Fool's jokes on you

Ah ok. For anyone looking for more info on the for defense game, there will be two teams, each must build a fort out of crates and stuff, then they must fight to detrsoy each others forts. Or there will be there is one big team and they all must build one single fort and fend off waves of zombies.

Machinarium is without doubt one of the best indie games ever produced. According to the author, Microsoft rejected the game for the Xbox when initially approached; however Microsoft are selling a different story, although that may just be an failed attempt to justify a rather poor decision:

I'm going to have to go ahead and disagree with you there. My vote would go to Crayon Physics over Machinarium. (I'm not sure if I'd say that Crayon Physics is the best indie game, but I think it better than Machinarium.) Nothing I have ever seen is more original and rewarding than Crayon Physics. Machinarium's art style is astonishing but it is an unoriginal take on puzzle gameplay. I enjoyed playing Day of The Tentacle more than Machinarium but I enjoyed Machinarium's art more.

My opinion on Xbox Live game ideas is X-Moto/Elastomania style arcade motorcycle fun. Those games have literally infinite replay value and they're fun and rewarding to get good at.

"One of the best" - obviously the very best game comes down to user opinion. i'm not trying to be a jerk by pointing this out, I just think that you misread.

Me too! In my opinion sandbox games are the best, because it up to the user the way they want to play the game. Theres no storyline or point, so the user has to create his own fun thing do. Plus, with 7+ other friends and constant gameplay/media updates you'll never really run out of things to do. Also i may of figured out a way for users to be able to run homemade scripts for the servers they host. You may be able to edit a script file off your computer, copy it to a usb and then run the script in the game. This may be a problem tho, because it involves hacking the Microsoft usb drive encrypted files.
