We had a chance to see Geforce GTX 590 at Cebit. It is real, it runs and it’s coming soon. It is quiet and packs enough power to run Crysis 2 in 3D at very nice frame rates.

The card has two PCIe 2x4 power connectors and it is rather hot, something that doesn’t come as a surprise. The card looks slightly different than the EVGA card we saw at CES 2011, but the EVGA card had a custom cooler that will be different than the reference one.

Fudzilla

Post your goodies here! :toast:

Thought you might say that. However, this isn't idle speculation. They've seen it in person, so that basic info will be accurate. I'm especially glad that it's quiet.

my cards quiet at idle too

I'm glad yours is quiet in idle mode, it would be very annoying otherwise. Fudzilla are talking about 3D mode, which is a big challenge with a hot dual GPU card.

i call bullshit there is no human way they can measure that in a crowded convention hall with any reality of the truth. not to mention NV has never released a quiet dual card hell the 580 and 570's by themselves are loud

i will believe the 590 is quiet when i see it well hear it

Of course they didn't measure it with instruments, come on now!

But it's not too much of a stretch to say that they could well have put their ears to it while running in 3D. If it was loud, you'd clearly hear it when it's that close. Therefore, they can make a rough and ready assessment of its noise performance. They can also mean quiet for a card of its class.

so if it didnt scream like a leafblower and only sounded like a weedeater we are ok i hate FUD for a reason. this card will be cool but looking at xfire 6970s vs SLi 580's i would bet the 6990 is going to win. i dont know what you are arguing you dont know what FUD meant i dont know what FUD meant FUD doesnt know what FUD meant. when there are pictures of this card with a proper HS attached i will believe something

lets take the 580 as an example

6970 for comparo

stock cooler is not small thats a 10.5in card and more than half is cooler. they are estimating the 6990 at 13.5in i am guessing most of it is cooling.

the only way i see them cooling a dual fermi card is with a hell of a fan over a huge heatsink. the cooler will not be quiet i can guarantee that

I'm sorry, I just don't get your point.

Fudzilla were in a position to make a rough and ready assessment of its noise performance, that's all. This tells us that it's gonna sound more like a GTX 285 in 3D mode than a 2900XT (I should know, I've got one. )

Can't wait to see one!

wow, post something about nvidia and the AMD fanboi's come arunnin' kind of pathetic if you ask me. Just wait till the damn thing is released stop spreading opinions that have no basis in fact at all.

Ha, cdawall is very far from being a fanboy.

Anyway, it'll be interesting to see how this performs.

cant wait to see it performs against 6990

WHatever, it's gonna be costly.

But to beat that, Samsung Galaxy S II is gonna be costlier :P

Which do you think will win? Shall we take bets?

I say it's gonna be so close it'll be a tie. Now, while that might seem disappointing from an enthusiasts point of view, it's excellent from a price war point of view. :D

Or, they might just agree to fix them at similar high prices, in cartel fashion. :ohwell:

My bet is that the fan will be placed smack dab in the middle of the fin array and will be built into it. And the entire vapor chamber cooler will span the lenght of the card, covering both GPUs and all of the VRMs and MEM chips. That'd be cool in both the figurative and literal sense ;D

pics or it didnt happen. if I saw a gtx590 bet your ass I'd have a pic to prove it, or a 6990 for that matter

Who are you directing that comment to? It doesn't seem to relate to any posts here.

oh know i am an evil fanboy who loves AMD and ATi hell look at my current PC. i mean its not like i never buy NV cards. Not like i use a GTX470. some people are major NV fanboys who think that this card will be amazing. i bet that the card is overpriced vs the 6990 and performs worse.

considering that a pair of 6950's in crossfire is just behind a pair of GTX 580s in SLi i would bet that the 6990 beats the GTX 590. since its based off of dual 6970 cores which are faster than the 6950's.

It's possible. Anyway, we've only got two to three weeks to wait for the reviews and then we'll know definitively.

BTW, this is post 3000. :D

who really cares these gpus are huge power hungry and both will be hot and loud, and both will perform worse then 2 regular cards in sli / crossfire and those dual cards will probably cost less then the 1 giant card lol, i suppose you could do trifire but last i knew you cant sli nvidias dual gpu with single gpu so yea we can all wait and see but ill take the guarenteed performance of 2 cards then 1 card,

I will buy it and come back to dual GPU setup ( the easy way ).

One of my friend wants my GTX 580 to buy so for me the GTX 590 will be in half price !

The race of which company can make the best toaster is on!

6990 vs GTX 590

XD

i think Nvidia will have the best toaster, if we remove the limiter on the 590 i think it will have the larger heat output thus ill have some nice golden brown toast. to go with the eggs i fried on the 480 lmao. j/k take it easy fanboys all in good fun, performance will be awesome for a single card perspective. but lets see how high these new gpus hit on the power scale. i wonder if we will see pcie sockets melt from power draw like on the EVGA boards

Didnt know up to now, that 6970 had a larger heatsink vs a 580
