So I am sure that the majority of you are now aware that the new DLC for Left 4 Dead has been annouced and it’s meant to be a bunch of new stuff including new weapons, new maps and the original survivors… wait what did i just type!? That’s right! The original lovable characters of Franics, Zoey, Louis and Bill are returning to Left 4 Dead 2 in a new campaign where the new survivors meet them in a campaign. Thus bringing up some interesting questions surrounding what is actually coming with this new DLC…
1. Does this mean 8 survivors at one time?
I am so hoping that this is a yes, i would love to see a really big finale where every survivor fights against a larger horde and more tanks for a finale. Imagine that, one massive battle of 8 survivors versus a finale that’s twice as large as normal!
2. Does this mean a campaign where two groups of survivors work to get to each other?
This onehas great implications if it answers yes! What i am thinking about is one campaign where two groups of four survivors, new and old work their way to one set point. Fighting zombies and crescendos as they do it. It would be like versus but instead of fighting against the human SI you would just be working with a larger group then before! This would be an excellent addition to game content and would really be impressive if it worked like this! And the final major question?
3. If the above 3 questions answer yes, does this mean 16 player versus?
This one is the wrap up of ideas, if its 8 player survivors, then will there be versus support and because of the large increase of Survivors the versus must balance. The only thing that i can think of here is that there would be some kind of way of preventing a whole group of 8 infected ganging up on only 4 survivors. Rendering a large amount of damage and ending the game very quickly. It would be interesting to have both teams working to the same point and they can see each other on the opposite side of a fence or something. That’d be great.
With this i am assuming that as character selections when starting a campaign you would also be able to select the old survivors as well as the new ones meaning that you could have Nick, Coach, Bill and Zoey or something. Or if you want all blokes… or even two women. Many many questions valve have left us with. I do have an interest in the new weapons that are mentioned but i am more interested in how this new campaign is intended to work. I wish valve would email us and just give us a sneak peak or even a hint that we may be on the right track…[/hint]
This new DLC is set to be out in Spring 2010. Now if I’m going on infamous Valve time then spring must fall around August for Valve. Either way i cannot wait to see this new dynamic added to the game and i await further information posts as we go along.
On a related note we still do not have an article for this Thursday and its Tuesday! We would love to have a review or articles of something. I am going to have to force a word limit of about 500 words. You can have more but i want some good content coming out of this.
