Hello TPU, this thread is for TPU user's of STEAM to be able to let other TPU members know they are currently broadcasting their game play footage LIVE. Then any bored TPU member can watch that TPU member game from STEAM. :rockout::lovetpu:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here is the general idea of the configuration in STEAM app

Go to Settings in the STEAM app

THEN
1-2.png

Easy as that. Remember that if you DO NOT configure Broadcasting to allow Everyone then the viewer MUST BE IN YOUR FRIENDS LIST and they must request to view before seeing the broadcast.
If you ALLOW EVERYONE then the person wanting to view will just be able to view the Broadcast with out the Gamer needing to do anything.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here is how to find the current Broadcasts in the Steam App.

Go to the STORE PAGE of the game you want to view Broadcasts of and then click "view all"

THEN
2911.png

Once the Broadcast is up and going you will be able to watch the live stream! NOTE if the Game is a NON STEAM GAME then you will need to go to the users Profile in order for the option to view the STREAM!!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A little INFO on what the Broadcaster will see while they are gaming and Broadcasting.

NO ONE WATCHING

When you have a Viewer watching you game you will see this.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So now here is the last and biggest key to this thread.
If you would like to notify TPU users that you are currently Broadcasting come here and make a post of the game TITLE you will be streaming on STEAM and then when you are finished with your Gaming Stream come back to your post and edit to show the STREAM has ended.
Hopefully this will be enjoyable to all who like this sort of thing!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When you want to be sure that there is no more Broadcasting , just go back into Steams Settings and TURN IT OFF.
I know this service can be used to share desktop and any app and sounds from the PC but this Thread is for Gaming. Thank you everyone!

Notable Mention: There is a slight increase CPU demand when Broadcasting, but any worthy gaming Processor will not have an issue! My Laptops I5 6300HQ is able to handle the extra load but at a cost of an extra 10 Degrees Cels and its seems to only be on 1 core, and it's the laptop in my System Specs drop down ;) NOT AN ISSUE but worth a mention.

Notable Mention: I should not have to mention this but I will. There is an increase in Internet bandwidth when broadcasting! I did NOT have an issue with that nor did the Game.

Notable Mention: Much of the quality of the stream will have to do with your upload speed and of course the download speed of the viewer too.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm currently Broadcasting Dirt 4 right NOW :rockout:
EDIT Stream finished

I am now attempting to stream some structured PVP in Guild Wars 2.

By means of experiment + using non-Steam apps with this function :)

Find me @ Vayra

Would really like to know if this is working :) Can someone try and watch my stream?

NON steam apps and there is no option to find the game and would need to be a "FRIEND" in order to see it, sorry

Aah I see. So even if you were to search for GW2 it wouldnt show up? I did enable everyone can watch.

@DRDNA That is odd, this really is my username :D And I did manage to find you, same avatar and all. -- Found issue, remove the 86 apparently

@Cvrk if you want to see some GW2, add me on Steam :) Same goes for everyone else. Stream's up.

Yes thats right, the NON STEAM GAME would be unfindable on STEAM so no one will be able to view it UNLESS THEY are on your FRIENDS LIST.
EDIT
Okay I'm going to set up a stream again of DIrt 4 probably go for about 30 minutes...Dirt 4 Stream will be up in a moment.

People actually use steams built in broadcaster?

People actually use steams built in broadcaster?

Its not bad actually and yes, there are streams there for almost every game on it.

But as a platform for public streams, I think it fails horribly. It is a really good medium to share your desktop / gameplay to specific people though; no additiona logins or accounts required elsewhere.

can i post my twitch streams or is this thread only exclusive to steam

I don't think Twitch is a good idea as it also has a solicit for donations feature and as it may or may not be aloud by TPU , I think it is best to NOT to include Twitch. Sorry and thank you for asking first!

EDIT: I think it may have the potential to be abused. But you can run it by a MOD first and we can then revisit the idea. Be sure to let the MOD know that Twitch has a solicit for donations feature; Let me know, thank you again!

If gaming with a friend and using teamspeak does steam stream our voices as well?

It can if you select the right options in Broadcasting......I think...... I have a few minutes if you want to do some test? HMU in PM if so.

I'm working so i do not have access to try it out. I have been using this service prior to seeing this thread. I have a couple of friends that will watch me play from time to time but they jump in my teamspeak server while I play. I'll ask one of them just to watch and text me if they can hear my voice or my other friends voice.

I guess its over? Says you are not connected to Steam...

edit now it works.

ICK, looks terrible through steam!!!
