Start now. Are you on Extreme HW yet? And, the badge is automagic

I'm going to start folding again soon

How do I get the badge on my profile signature when I do? I know about the team name.
Are you on Linux? Might be problematic. After I get home, I'm gonna try on my Mint install. Last night, I started swapping parts to get a different, Windows, machine going.

You need to go to your TPU account preferences and add your folding username

Yes, thanks for that little detail.

I have three machines going; two for EHW and one for 50711.

Thanks @Toothless for the chips. They are not crunching, but folding. They have been treated to a nice fresh tube of Arctic Silver 5. It's crazy seeing 24 threads going at once. I might get another dual chip machine going, but I need to find another power cord, first.

Look into Ivy Bridge duals. 2680v2 was my first dual socket and 40 threads was amazing to watch work at the time. DDR3 ECC ain't too spendy either and there might be a standard ATX sized board from Supermicro that'll fit most normal cases.

Ugghh. I have so much other stuff going on. That's the last thing I need. The main reason I don't or won't do a thing is I'm sure I will like it too much. I have about 5 radio projects, a boat, my kids' appliances and toys, a home theater, my property, ALL THAT NEED TO GET FINISHED!!! Not enough time.

But, i just looked, and my f@h break wasn't quite a year long. But

Thanks for the idea, and it is tempting.

Managed to find the page with the front table on it.. I think a few years ago we where actually in the top 20 or getting close to it... I'll have to dig out that data for reference :)

I was going to ask what happened. makes sense. I won't be able to fold as much, just doing it here and there to support Parkinsons folding cause I am worried I have it, so doing it for selfish reasons, which probably isn't the best, but its something so eh.

Yeah its crazy prices over here but its meant to be going down, but how much, we'll see in July.. Might go back up then!

If you fold you fold, if you don't you don't :D I look at it this way, if you only do one work unit a day, that's something, selfish or otherwise :) A few hours to do a single work unit isn't going to hurt much I don't think which is why I do it during the day as I just couldn't afford the electric for all the systems here 24/7 lol :)

I noticed there are only two 50711 team members that have points on this update....is that just crazy timing as far as WUs getting finished and uploaded, or is something else going on?

Then I went cruising around other team pages, and they have similar situations going on.

Edit. And no team has any contributions on this latest update according to

temperatures are warming up here, so I will be doing it less and less, but I will be back in the winter... I expect probably ten million points a week next winter. I am going to start taking off the side of my case, and instead of using my little bedroom heater, I will Fold. :toast:

I think it's all updated now, generally if there's any problems on the pages, they will give an announcement to say what had happened :)

Just wondering, but does anyone actually double check or oversee any of these schools that run a program for Folding? What's to stop some student from masking his project in a program that is actually just using GPU power for mining some alt coin or Bitcoin

I just am wondering if there are any safeguards in place, like how do we know we are actually helping calculate proteins, I am sure some of them are legit, I see several Dr this and Dr that when I fold and look at the information, but sometimes I get one and its just a random students project... which makes me wonder...

I wonder if you checked it while it was processing? You can see some weird results if you don't wait until it's done, which takes about 10 minutes.

Of course there are, and you can watch your pc simulating protein in real time ish.
I think it's reviewed but would say nothing is impossible but it is worth noting these are not similar workloads, coin mining and folding use different parts of a GPU more aggressively mining likes memory use and speed, folding uses actual compute hardest but both also don't use some parts at all.

good observations. I imagine a video folding protein would not be hard to fake/upload to the end user, but the other stuff would be.

so yeah, good point indeed.

Na, it looks like the 9am update for all teams is zero, the 12pm update is about double the 6am, the 3pm is zero, and 6pm has yet to start. When I first noticed it, 9a,12p, 3p were all zero. Maybe 6pm will have 3pm contributions.

The only reason I look at them is to gauge if my machines are running ok. I was fighting a RAM problem, and poor performance on the stats page indicated a problem.

It seems like I lost a memory channel, so I'm down to 16GB of DDR3. But the system is really stable now...
