Typing faster than what can be displayed

So for some odd reason, I have had problems all day with me typing faster than what the computer can keep up with. Last I checked, this isnt a Pentium system. :)

Anyway, I just reinstalled Vista last night but i dont think thats the problem. Though I guess it could be. Anyone have any ideas?

Has to be something with the way that the computer is polling the keyboard input.
There is no way you can type faster than the computer can record the keys unless you are Robo-CrashburnXP.

What kind of keyboard are you using?
 
Usually any time I experience anything like that means that something on the system is lagging, double check explorer and see if something is acting weird (I know this sounds slightly odd on a new system, but never know).
 
Either that of the keyboard driver is crap.

It is a G11 keyboard. Never had this issue until today.

I have kept tabs with task manager and the only thing that is really high CPU wise is the System Idel Process which is 99 like its supposed to be. The overall CPU usage is 1%.

Never intalled the driver. Ever. I just plug it in and away I go.
 
..You aren't drunk/high by any chance are you :p I seriously dont know.. have you tried another kb?
 
USB keyboard? Something bugging up the USB ports?
IF so, pull all USB devices and see if it helps.
 
Could also be a setting in control panel for the keyboard. Its been known to happen countless times :D

No I have not. I do have a PS/2 keyboard under my dresser I could try, but its not PS/2.

The only other thing I have in all my USB ports is my Microsoft Habu mouse.

I just went in there and no matter what I do, it doesnt seem to help.

Edit: Pulling the mouse out of the USB port doesnt work either.

Open up something like wordpad and type.
If it is slow, unplug the mouse and try again.
I thought HABU meant Have All Buss Utililized ;)

I pretty much did that in Xfire talking to my firend. Same thing. Same result.
 
Yeah okay, now im typing perfectly all at once. :wtf:
 
Not sure, CBXP. Sounds like a driver issue.
Could be another driver that is mucking with the keyboard.
Maybe try Win98? (Just Kidding !!)

Does it do the same thing in safe mode?
 
Havent tried in Safe Mode. If it doest it again, it will be the first thing I try.

I used to have this happen a lot waaayyyy back in the day when everyone was still running DOS . . . but that was because the system couldn't keep up with fast input rates . . .


nowadays, though, even with PS/2 it's not so much of a problem . . .

did you do a clean OS re-install, or just a repair reinstall?

My initial guess is an unwanted process running in the background that goes about it's work while the system is at idle (which typing typically is a near idle state). Cheack process explorer or task manager for anythin unusual sucking down CPU load

Stated already that I did a reinstall. FWIW, I never do a repair reinstall. :)

Also stated that I checked task manager and the only thing using processes was the system idle state which was 99 like it always is on any system. :)

This brings back memories. I can type at about 108wpm. My friend can safely do 132. One day he tried to go faster & he ripped the keys on the kb to shreads. They flew off so fast I had to take cover :p However I never had a case where the machine itself could keep up with the typist. On the other hand, interface hardware is a different story :D

just wanting to clarify, s'all good.

you could always double check with Process Explorer, it tends to show more running process than Task Manager . . .

but, still, considering it was a clean install, I doubt in anyway that it's software related.


double check your BIOS settings for the USB controllers - if you can, try hard setting them to 2.0, and check for any performance settings . . .

no recent hardware changes, correct?


Anyhow, did it start acting up again, or is it still cleared up?

So far so good. Im not having any issues. The only hardware change I have made is installing a new CPU cooler. Thats it. :)
 
when i read this am back with my memory, this thing happened with me , when i was have intel 1.7 celeron , so i don't wish you cpu have same destiny of my old cpu , cuz it die
