Using System RAM as extra graphics memory

OK, my card is 64MB, and i want to increase the GFX capacity of my system without buying a new card. ANy ideas how to do this?

u aint gonna do this.. the only way is to buy a new card.. and dont buy one that uses "hypermemory" or whatever nvidia uses to call their equivalent..

I'm not sure how to do that on an Nvidia card, but a universal way to increse VRAM is to increase the size of the AGP aperture. Just a word of caution- you can have as much VRAM as you want, that GF4 MX is still going to suck

. I reccomend getting a nice Geforce 6200, it's cheap and it's powerful for it's type. It's also DX9/ SM3, two features you're going to notice when upgrading from DX7 lol.

Why use an MX series card??? 64mb on your MX card is simply overkill. It was meant for 8MB - 32MB from day one and they just expanded on the MX theme... It's overkill as it is to play an MX card on anything past Pentium 3 or AMD K7. My suggestion is to get a Radeon 8500 or something like a Geforce 4 TI at 20$ for at least twice to 4 times the framerate + Direct X 8 or 8.1 spec card. Or, simply buy a FX 5200 or Radeon 9250 for somewhere around 40$ brand new in discount stores.

An MX card is IMHO good for scraps.

the mx series cards are gret for paper weights and as seen in his other thread my ti4200 4x agp 64mb doubles to triple his 3dmark scores so hmm whats that tell you
