what are any good video cards? i went on eBay to see if there were any good but cheap ones ( because im on a budget :)) but didn't under stand a word of it. I've heard that nvidia makes good ones and AMD OR AMT or something. can you suggest any thing under 100 dollars. that is direct 10 compatible. its going to be used manly for gaming.
thanks. :respect: :toast:

If we are talking PCI-E... the 9600GT or the 9800GT/8800GT. I think it's like $100 for the 9600GT and maybe $115-$120 for the slightly better 9800GT/8800GT.

thats great but dont know what it means

I'm using an Nvidia 8800GS on a 19" monitor and I'm impressed with it. It's a good card on the cheap!

I get the feeling that the thread starter feels too embarrassed to come back. Dude, we are trying to help you and we are devoting our personal time so I would appreciate it if you come back and let us help you further.

thats great but dont know what it means

Google whatever phrases or abbreviations you don't understand, we will help you but we can't spoon feed you :)

Edit: I'd recommend that you put off buying a video card for a few days/weeks until we can help you further otherwise you may get ripped off and pay far too much for a low performing card.

i have got the card for YOU

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130380

lifetime warranty covers overclocking

i got an email yesterday that gives this promo code for an additional $10 off, too

EMCBAACBD

its good until 10/8 and makes the price of the card $114, and $99 after mail in rebate. thats pretty good. free shipping

not quite under $100. but close enough and after rebate its $99.99 :pimp:

EDIT: is this going into the emachines in your specs?

yeah that machine sounds....ancient.

might he get the same results from an 8600GTS or 9500GT?

first you need to open your computer.

Do you have a pci-e slot, or do you have just pci slots

or do you have a agp slot

the brown one is the agp slot

It sounds like you don't know to much about the hardware side, so lets start basic.

The next step is finding out how big your powerbox is by reading off the numbers to us.

The 12v is the one that we really need to know the most.

We can help, it's going to take a week to do this planing for what you need to do.

BTW my friend has the same cpu as you and plays all the latest games on high detail.

amd 939 amd 3200(same as you)

cheap Nvidia micro motherboard

2 gigs of DDR(just like you well maybe not 2gigs but the same kind of memory DDR)

with a PALiT non ref 8800GT 1GB video card PCI-E(memory btw is not the way to shop for a video card)

80gig ide hdd

XP windows

Plays all the latest games on high, even Crysis(which slows down in spots but overall runs pretty good)

hope you don't have a quiet system because that card is LOUD. if you got the XFX. fan spins at 100% at all times on the XFX model. i guess you could change the fan / heatsink, but there goes your savings. i think XFX says they have a "fix" of some sort. couldn't say what it is, though. one reviewer said he's been building computers for 20 years and its the loudest thing he ever put in a case

i ordered one (my computer is quiet) and i thought i could live with it. but nope, a week later it was sent back at my expense for the evga model. i just couldn't take the whiny, whirly noise :ohwell:

thats true, the first thing i did was remove that leafblower for a vf900
