945GCMX for budget. W00t!
975X crossfire equivalent to a 680i board(8x+8x PCIe 1.0) also does "work" for nVidia 6/7 series SLi.
P35 for overclocking extremes.
X38 for a damn nice crossfire rig.

Prediction:
P45 = X38 + P35. Will be a budget crossfire-rs/overclockers dream.

I'm happy with my X38.

From what I understand both the X38 and P35 can push well over 500fsb but I know for certain I'd never need to!

X38 is PCIe2.0 with 2 x 16 lanes but costs more. My X38 doesn't get anywhere near hot either.
