What is Warhammer 40.000 all about ?

It's all about killing stuff with stuff, and in EPIC WAY!

I really like the 40k ip but at the moment Games Workshop is putting the screws to tabletop gamers
With constant price increases, quality decreases and the rules lately have been poorly thought out leading to lots of debate which leads to arguments and wasted time.

If you really want to get a feel for 40k i highly suggest the Dawn of War series as well as the Hours Hersey series and other books from the Black Library.
Avoid the Table top game atm unless you have a few 1000$ to waste and be frustrated with broken rules.:banghead:

Heres some stuff ive painted ive got probably 5000 bucks or more into 40k over the last 10 years split between Tyranids Eldar and Black Templar all of which are a bitch to paint because im not that great and my color choices.

The space marines in Heinlein's Mobile Infantry as depicted in Starship Troopers ARE armored humans, very heavily armored in fact, and have rocket launchers, jetpacks, etc.

The film depicted them wrong.

i know that the book is different to the films, but the background story, apart from exosuits and insect aliens (and a fascistic military regime, even tho incomparable to the Imperium by size), is nonexistant... they may have stole these 2 ideas but not the design, as i recall these suits not beeing connected to your neural network, opposed to space marine armor, which should feel like a second skin, according to fluff... its not bulky for the Marine that wears it;)
As said, first Variants of that Design, were from a Canadian Tabletop manufacturer, which went out of business, and sold the designs and rights to GW.
Maybe they have leaned on Heinleins variant, but the suits themselves differ much from what i recall the suits from starship troopers looked like.

Relic is known for having good AI programmers.

You're joking right? Played Company of Heroes recently? The AI in that is downright pathetic, and they haven't touched on it since release.

Also, Relic follow the "buff AI health and damage ridiculous amounts to make them more 'difficult'" school of thought, which is hardly a "good" thing. :shadedshu

before Relic came around I think the A.I in majority RTS titles was too easy. first time I played Dawn of War I tried to fortify and farm but got my ass handed to me lol

oh yeah! DOW1 had a severe Difficulty, the AI was really testing your defenses, and always found a weakness.... the only AI i ever saw that was even double as intelligent, was the non cheating AI from SUpreme Commander... cheating AI´s in this game must be nearly unbeatable :D

My point exactly; they haven't touched the AI since release. Sure, they've added plenty of patches to the game, changed a hell of a lot of stuff since release, but did piss to fuck all to the AI. The AI still gets bugged out, doing nothing but spawning the one unit they can call in off-map(StuH, Priest, British Trucks, Rangers, etc) and never rebuilding their base or any units. Shit like that, needs to be fixed. It's been what, four/five years now?

DoW1 AI was better, yes. But I'm referring to CoH AI - it's shittacular.
Half the issues come from the off-map support (which DoW1 didn't have), or the AI not rebuilding after a certain point, or the AI spamming one or two kinds of units and never building anything else, etc.
