I'm using the old Saitek Eclipse II Been using it for 5 years with no problems, but plan to get a Roccat Ryos MX Pro -Brown, or wait for the Cherry RGB keys.
 
My keyboard has "Dell" stamped on it. The keys click gently when I type ;P
 
Corsair K70 keyboard, Cherry reds. Better than all the crap I had before.
Mechanical is simply better (for me) for everything. Also, nKey rollover is nice. Feels more precise.
For gaming, eh whatever floats your boat, I do find mechanical better than the other stuff (especially membrane, ewww).
 
mechanical keyboards are way too loud. not only does it wake up the entire house, but if you play games with people on teamspeak, skype, etc all you can hear is their keyboard clacking away. super annoying.

Well that depends. Mine isn't too loud, it doesn't even wake the cat up when she sleeps literally next to the keyboard, and she's super noise sensitive. No negative skype feedbacks as of yet.
The membrane keyboards we use at work are louder.

Corsair Vengeance K70. But as stated its personal preference. I'd try it out beforehand if you can. Its on the pricey side, but made out of aluminum and elevated keys. I think this keyboard will out-live me.

I also have MX Browns, I game as much as I type but still prefer the browns over the reds. Its just easier for my hands to flow over when typing... Id probably feel perfectly at home with MX blues but the only problem I have with them is that their clicky.

I have yet to come across any noise complaints from Asia. Maybe they're all deaf already. Altough this might explain the recent earthquakes in Switzerland.

Awesome keyboard even more so for right handed people as you can double up what each key does.
 
Das Keyboard Model S Ultimate (MX Blue).
Best keyboard I ever tried. Blows everything I ever tried away completely (save for my pop's IBM Model M, which feels almost as good. And is two years older than me, kekeke.)
The form of the keys and the feedback is just ideal for typing. Which I tend to do much more than gaming.
It is great for gaming, too, I believe. My personal opinion.
The clicky absolutely sound? Love it and would not get a silent keyboard again even if offered a million bux. (I do admit I get a little bit worried the clicking sound might be distracting for others when I bring it to class in university... But no one complained yet.)

(Fun fact: I once went to a LAN party where I met two Serious™ SC2 players who came for a tournament there. They were looking to change their keyboards in the near future as their current ones were rather tiresome. They did consider getting this keyboard. Whey they saw me there using it, they asked me to let them try it out. Their response was: "nearly orgasmic" - so good it's mindblowing.)
 
Cherry MX Reds, would've taken Browns had they been available. I do a fair amount of typing, though nothing excessive. I don't mind membrane or scissor switches too much, but I find that my typing speed and general productivity soars with mechanical keyboards. In my opinion, the best solution for a precise, durable and comfortable keyboard is a Cherry MX switch with rubber dampers below keycaps - this brings both noise and typing stress down for those that are still bottoming out while typing.

Though there are those who have a satisfied smile on their face as they pound the keys into the steel backplate (any self-respecting keyboard has one of those). :)

I don't think that "gaming keyboard" is synonymous with "mechanical keyboard", nor do I think that these two should be correlated in any way. It's all down to personal taste and needs.

During the previous 12 years I was using a BTC 8110M (OMG, I loved that keyboard)
 
Microsoft digital media keyboard 3000 v1.0

It's got soft touch membrane keys and their feel is better than any other keyboard I've ever used. This feel helps me to type really fast on it, too.

Funny thing is it's a budget keyboard and looks rather cheaply made, so I don't know why it gets this critical factor so right where others don't.
 
My keyboard has Rubberdome key technology. I use the wired Logitech K310 washable keyboard. I love this thing! I have spilt a beverage on it and took it to the kitchen sink and washed it off. It is still going strong. I like the big keys and the action works great for my fingers. I don't do macros so I think it works stellar as a gaming keyboard. I think a gaming keyboard is what works for you. I do believe in it being wired though. No gamer wants to gamble on dead batteries or possible lag.

My favorite gaming switches are MX blues and for typing I like scissor switches
 
Logitech G15 still going here, have had no need to upgrade or change it.

Mechanical ones seem to just be a marketing ploy to sell keyboards... Haven't tried one, so just my initial opinion :P
