What phone you use as your daily driver? And, a discussion of them.

GPU drivers make your GPU slow so that you buy new GPUs?
We never know ... maybe "?" Just saying from a consumer perspective. Would be bad marketing but who knows .....

I really dislike that you have have to cash out more for the 15 Pro that has USB 3.2, while not so inexpensive Iphone 15 is still stuck on USB 2.0 speeds.
That’s because the USB controller is onboard the SoC and Apple used last year’s SoC in the non-Pro models.

Is that fair? No. Do I like that? No. But it is what it is. Hopefully they don’t make the same boneheaded mistake next year with the non-Pro models.

This week, I got the wife an early B-day present in the form of an iPhone 15 Pro... she really likes it alot... she previously had a 13 Pro, for which the fruity bois gave me $460 trade value, so that made it a little easier on da wallet :)

Did you get it in a different color so she could tell that it was a new phone ?

Yep, the 13 was (Project) Red, the 15 is girly/barbie pink :D

It's the same amount that Apple gave me when I traded in my iPhone 13 Pro for the iPhone 15 Pro.

Updating my daily driver and others, I'm relegating my Fold4 from main to 3rd/spare phone status, got a Samsung S24 Ultra Titanium Violet as main, my Flip5 will be my secondary phone, with the Fold4 being my 3rd phone. My fully functional Note10+ will be my spare should any of my other phones be out of action. And yes, I'm knee deep in Samsung or Android/PC ecosystem.....

whats with iphones and the ridiculous trade values :O i thought it was a thing only in this country.

iPhones usually keep their value over the years. Check out Swappa, you can find that iPhones maintain their resale value while most Androids, even flagship Galaxy devices, see a precipitous drop in their resale value past one year.

They are nice phones. Nice to look at, nice to hold.

Highly subjective. Find them neither.
Agreed. Like Tesla (cars). Overglorified soap dispensers.

Besides, a phone is meant for keeping in touch with the world. Not to enjoy looking at.

Everything you use regularly should have a form that is beautiful due to being highly functional. All great engineering looks good. It's a good ethos to surround yourself with an environment that is aesthetic and functional, keeps your mind clear.

Ignoring natural aesthetic laws is how we got brutalism in architecture, and other post modern crap.

I've got a Pixel 8 on the way, going to try it vs my current Pixel 7 Pro. Doubt it'll make a difference.

I don't disagree, but form shouldn't be more important than function when it comes to everyday tools. Ideally, the two (form and function) go hand in hand.

Besides, I don't find iPhones and Teslas particularly enjoyable to look at, personally. In fact, I find them rather bland and boring.

@dgianstefani I don't see your point. How is an iPhone's form "beautiful due to being highly functional"? As far as I'm concerned, it's the same soap bar as any other phone, just made with "exotic" materials, like aluminium (is that exotic? ehh...).

where do you trade in? just official apple online store? I was considering of seeing what it would cost me to trade in my only 1 year old galaxy for apple upgrade. but they prob won't give me enough trade in value so I wont do it, just curious how do you actually do that?

I'm not just talking about iPhones. I made a general statement responding to your comment "not to enjoy looking at".

There is no Aluminum on my phone, You like your phone for your reasons, you don't have to like mine. I came into this game fresh with no bias, I just naturally prefer them. Flagship stuff, not that mid range free range stuff

Yes, I trade it in at the Apple Store.

My Galaxy S24 is a complete iClone and I'm totally fine with it.
It's very comfortable in the hand, much more so than my Pixel 7 or S21 were.

It's hard to tell the difference with the screen off between it and my wife's 15 Pro sometimes.
The only giveaway is picking it up (it's lighter), or if flipped and the cameras are visible.

I just checked and they don't accept my model for trade in, bleh. Oh, well.

I wouldn't mind moving to iphone, Android 14 has been messing up Netflix on me. very annoying.

As stupid as it may sound, everything on my iPhone 15 Pro just works. I don’t have to fight with it, it all just plain works. And I love it.
