Completed in about 20 hours. Rating: 9/10

Pros:
-The car is the weapon. You can use the mouse to make the car shift left and right smashing into cops and the like.
-Jumping to other cars while in motion is easy.
-Pretty unique on the gameplay front from anything else I've seen.
-Fast paced; a lot of action.
-Relatively lengthy plot with a lot of twists and turns.
-You have a lot of options available to you to counter pursuers.
-The voice acting is excellent.
-The music is above average (none of those songs are going to get stuck in my head but the music to match the cutscenes is good, albeit volume a little low).
-I was able to complete all the side missions. I used Artmoney on the Rampage missions to save time.
-No crashes.
-No problems when alt+tabbing.

Cons:
-There's tiny hiccups in the performance every now and then but it doesn't cause me to drive poorly.
-No way to remap keys in game (only choice of two configs). I had no problem getting used to the default.
-The gunplay isn't as fine tuned as a shooter but it's good enough considering it is mostly a vehicle game.

Final Word:
Everything about this game feels just right.

Controls are the worst i have ever seen.

Controls are the worst i have ever seen.

Unfortunately, they're actually halfway decent on X360 and PS3. Which sux, cause I would've much rather played on PC.

Have you tried to jump into a parked car Ford?

I'm playing it on PC and they are a traditional layout:

W is forward
S is backward
A is left
D is right
F is enter/exit car
SPACE is drift
ALT is handbrake

RIGHT MOUSE is "airjack"
MOUSE WHEEL is camera positioning

MOUSE controls look while on foot

Its Midway, it must be fun! Then again, its MTV...

I just did it. Works the same as with a moving car. There's just a slight delay as he turns it on. XD

Much better with a controller

Well I tried the demo, and it has to be one of the worst excuses for a game IMO.

Shocking doesnt even put it into context, I had high hopes what with Vin Diesel's films being really good, but this game really does suck :(

Just beat the game not too long ago. I was impressed and for this game an Xbox 360 Controller is a MUST!!!! One item that I don't like, the ability to adjust visuals. All you can do is change the resolution.

Oh and for those who are wondering, this is one of the newer ports that will run @ 1080p just fine without having the "best of the best" hardware available. Referring to Saints Row 2 for PC.

@alex

Sorry you feel that way. I thought the complete opposite and LOVED it.

Just finished watching the gameplay on youtube. It's like Burnout Paradise ramming cars much more fun tho you can shoot at your enemies

Yeah, it seems like we have played two different versions of the game. I'm really enjoying it using a keyboard config.

Mind you I didnt like Burnout Either, really enjoyed the Demo, bought the Ultimate version and didnt get on with it :(

I just got the PS3 version on Friday, and have been playing it off and on this weekend(also got the new Chronicles of Riddick game, so my time has been divided).

While it isn't the best game I've ever played, it isn't completely terrible either. Definitely playable, though I do hate how the cars control, it seems like for a game where driving is the main concern, more time would have been put into make the driving more fluid.

I didn't like Ultimate box either. Needed some crash sites in the game! :D Like Revenge and Takedown.

Yeah, when you just use WASD, the cars handle like a sim but if you push space, it like forces it into arcade mode. I think it is alright. There's just some cars already I won't touch unless they make me (like that convertible). XD That's mostly personal preference though.

I turned up the music from 7 -> 10 and now the tone is right during the cutscenes. I really have no complaints so at this time, I'd give it a 9/10.

Edit: The key mappings are in this file:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft Entertainment\Wheelman\PC\WheelmanGame\Config\Coalesced.ini

Under this section:
[WheelmanInput.wheelmanInput]

The lines you'd need to edit are the ones starting with "m_aWheelmanInputBind="

Well, watched the trailer and it was just:

Explosion ... Explosion ... Explosion ... Explosion ... Explosion ... Explosion ... Explosion ...

So i though, nar...

has mad gta 4 clone shooting parts, vehicle jacking is just like pursuit force on psp where you leaped from car to car and stole it

horrible controls vin diesels voice is manipulated digitaly to make him sound like he has a permanemt cold

graphics are average too

missions are bland

the game is one of those its so bad its good types so ive heard, like ninja blade and 50 cent blood in the sand, so bad they are good

Have you even played it?

Vin Diesel sounds fine. The volume on his lines might be a little bit high but it's no biggie.

The gun play is more like Mass Effect than GTA4. Seeing how they are both based on Unreal 3, it makes sense. GTA4 also doesn't have a focus mode where you can blow vehicles up with a single shot.

There may be many of the same types of missions but they are far from bland. Getting Rank S on them all is challenging.

@MoonPig: There are explosions but they aren't so frequent that they become uninteresting. Usually it is when you beat up another car enough that it explodes or you use focus to shoot out an engine/gas tank.

In effect, this reminds me a lot of what DRIV3R could have/should have been. They share a lot in common (undercover cop, drug cartels, foreign nations, emphasis on driving, etc.).

Get Xpadder and hook up the PS3 or 360 controller to the PC, then you can map the keys anyways you want to the controller.

Sounding like he has a cold dosnt make him sound high pitched it makes him sound even deeper its a wierd tone of voice rather than even his usual one.
Bingo, you are correct it is a driver 3 clone with pursuit force style car jcaking!

You know, after playing the game a little more, I really have the urge to go and buy a Pontiac G8...

I wonder how much that cost GM?

I have been playing the demo on PS3 this game is BADASS playing in the pole position cabinet!

I just finished the game and updated the first post. I might play this one through again some day. It only has one ending as far as I could tell so if I play it again, it will mostly be just for the driving combat (which is excellent).
